Guest guest
Namaste The video is very good, Good work by the video grapher and Narasimha. It was a pleasure watching it and I feel that I will watch it a few more times. Most importantly I want to bring out the fact that when one does a lot japams and homams, the good work is reflected in the persons face, the lustre etc. Although I have not met Narasimha ever, I have seen one picture of him may be from many years ago and now the video. There is a striking difference between the two. The transformation internally may be more intense and fantanstic. On a different note, I have heard from a very realized soul that The Saffron color or the Garoua color one donned by monks is reserved for them, it is not advisible for people like us married or single to put it on. Many years ago the realized sould did explain me the reasons but I dot remember more things about. I have seen in Acharya Rajnish order a lot of family oriented people putting it on. The color signifies detachment. What the the views of the people here? Best Regards Mitesh
Guest guest
Om Vishnave Namah Namasthe Mitesh Its a coincidence that I too was thinking of the same, when I first saw the video. I had met Sri Narasimha garu in August 2006 at the SJC West Coast Conference, and I see a lustre in his face now. Guest guest
Namaste! I've some recent pictures (around 1 year back) of Narasimha. what i felt that his face in those pics looked tired and exhausted. I told myself that it is surely due to the amount of stress, his body must have gone thro' because of tremendous Sadhanaas he has performed in recent years. like you all noticed, i was also pleasently surprised to see the 'Glowing Face' of his in the video when i saw it for the first time day before yesterday. actually i was very happy to see his shining face in that video. BUT it hardly matters to me if his face is shining or lusterless. To be honest, Even his knowledge has not impressed me that much because You'll find great many 'Orators' and philosophical lacturers. even i can give a good philosophical lacture. it may not be a big deal now a days. What has really impressed me is his attitude of engaging into practical Sadhanaas. He has inspired me with his demonstration of doing Sadhanaas. His steadfastness in putting long hours for God. 32 chandi Homas in 3 days is not a joke. He is very very serious in his quest for Realisation and THAT is the thing which inspires me. Guest guest
Dear Utpal Atleast we all feel there is some changes in Narashima recently external, unless he did a makeup for the video shoot :-) I hope not. His internal changes only he knows I am sure they are fantastic. For one to do severe sadhana, one needs blessing of god and guru, so that no obstacles crop up and also preparation for previous birth and this birth including intense desire. It is a pleasure to know that Narashima seems to have these. All of us I hope get there and lot further. Guest guest
Namaste, On Videographer: The videographer is Ravi Poruri, who has been doing daily homam for more than 2 years now. Soon after creating the manual, I gave homa kundas to him and Narayan Iyer (who wrote here once) and they both started at the same nice muhurta on the Dattatreya Jayanti day in 2006. They are both doing daily homam still. On lustre etc: External things such as facial lustre are quite subjective, misleading and not that important. Let us please leave out the superficial things. Honestly, at the time of the shooting, I was quite tired, without much sleep for a few days and feeling a bit awkward and self-conscious about the artificialness of the shooting, i.e. pauses in the shooting to change angles frequently as suggested by Manish. My focus was in bits and pieces and frequently disturbed by the demands of the shooting. Only when I meditated at the end could I forget everything and sustain a good level of focus. On " severe sadhana " : In general, I encourage people to do serious sadhana, but I also urge them to constantly contemplate one's thoughts, motives and actions and consciously try to improve self-control. Serious sadhana tends to bring those changes internally, but it can still take a long time. There are some who do serious sadhana for years and yet stuck in the quicksand of ego. Yes, ego IS a quicksand. Getting out is very very tough. Contemplation and conscious effort to overcome ego should go in parallel to the " severe sadhana " . In fact, I see them as much as a part of one's sadhana as the external rituals, practices and meditation. Without a conscious effort to weed out ego, even serious sadhana can cause pride in one and make one fall. Perhaps nobody exists today who can do more severe sadhana than Ravana. But, despite such severe penances, Ravana was not immune to pride and he fell. Sadhana makes things easier on the effort to overcome ego, but does not guarantee anything. One needs to supplement sadhana with a conscious effort to overcome ego. On ochre/saffron robes: Yes, they symbolize detachment. Clothes symbolize the gunas that condition our consciousness. Saffron is different from red. Saffron symbolizes sacrifice. Yellow color symbolizes auspiciousness. Red color symbolizes bravery and steadfastness. White color symbolizes peace and calmness. And so on. Usually, white and yellow colors are preferred in rituals. But red color is the favorite of Ganesha. I was using a red color veshti simply because it was gifted to me by my favorite priest who was originally instrumental in giving us the resources that enabled the homam manuals. Guest guest
Namaste, >To be honest, Even his knowledge has not impressed me that much >because You'll find great many 'Orators' and philosophical >lacturers. even i can give a good philosophical lacture. Dear All, Wish to clear one thing. i am one of the biggest admirer of Narasimha's writings and like Ravi said, I myself keep reading again and again and again his many knowledge messages. Again please go through what he has mentioned. i am pasting below. In my opinion, It is Crux of All books on Spirituality. if one can digest the few lines mentioned below, one really don't need to read any book further. [ External things such as facial lustre are quite subjective, misleading and not that important. Let us please leave out the superficial things. In general, I encourage people to do serious sadhana, but I also urge them to constantly contemplate one's thoughts, motives and actions and consciously try to improve self-control. Spiritually yours, Utpal Sadhana makes things easier on the effort to overcome ego, but does not guarantee anything.
