Guest guest
Namaste, I answered the first question privately. I will answer the second one to the list without revealing your details. If a yogi doing sadhana and accumulating shakti is attached to the body, then body will flourish. However, such a yogi cannot go beyond a limit. If a yogi doing sadhana and accumulating shakti is not attached to the body, then body may or may not be in a good shape. Please remember that body awareness and attachment to the body and its well-being are a major obstacle in self-realiztion. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had throat cancer. It was so painful that he could not even swallow food. Yet, he chose to suffer. * * * Suppose you have a computer using which you are supposed to develop a particular software for the benefit of the world. Let us say that is your duty or dharma. If the computer breaks down, you will fail in your dharma. So you should do enough to make sure that the computer remains in working condition. You should install proper anti-virus software on that computer and take other precautions so that it serves your purpose. But, if you are so pre-occupied with the well-being of the computer that you spend all your time running virus scans, spyware and adware scans, registry optimizations, installation and testing of new anti-virus programs, anti-spyware programs etc, creating a nice desktop, screen saver etc for the computer and so on, you will not get enough time actually do your main duty. After all, computer is just an instrument to enable you to fulfil your duty. This body is like that computer. It is just an instrument to help one fulfil one's dharma, i.e. pay back one's karmic debts towards individuals, groups and universe at large. One should do enough to keep it in the required shape so that it enables one to do what one sees as one's dharma. But one should not not think about it excessively. If stopping the fall of hair is somehow important for fulfilling one's duty to the world, then one may do something about it. Otherwise, how does it matter? Guest guest
Namaste everyone, > if there is a minor defect in the body that person can not realise god. I think this is a reference to a statement of Ramakrishna that the physical body of a sadhak contains some signs. When these signs are present in the physical body, it indicates that person to be a sadhaka or one who has done serious sadhana in past lives. If those signs are not present, the person will not be able to achieve realization in that birth. And these signs are so subtle only an expert yogi or realized man like Ramakrishna can decipher them. We ordinary people cannot. The shape of the eyes, the shape of the skull, the forehead, weight of the arm below the elbow, pattern of body hair, color of the nipple in a male body etc etc indicate the various signs whether the soul in the body is taht of a sadhaka or not. Taking care of the body or not taking care, there cannot be a single rule applicable for everyone. For some their path includes taking care of teh body, for others it does not. Both are right. Its like taking sanyasa. For some realization may come by taking up sanyasa, for others by doing sadhana at home. What is good for one, may not be good for another. Interestingly, there was a mail which was forwarded by Narasimha to this group some months ago. The mail was written by Manish. There it was mentioned a lot often depends on the kind of deity whos sadhana is being done. A really ugra deity like Prachanda Chandika, or Mahakali or Chinnamasta won't let the sadhaka think too much about his/her body. In higher stages of sadhana he will not worry about his body at all. But a relatively soumya roopa of a deity will make sure the sadhaka takes good care of his/her body. So finally, the idea of taking care of the body or not taking care is a non issue. One should do what one feels most comfortable with, IMO. -Regards Rajarshi This is what Ramarksihna ment, he was not commenting on looking after the body or not looking after. How do you define a defectless body? Is there such a thing? Some people, with defects from birth, went on to become famous sages. Examples include Ashtavakra and Rishyashringa. bhavadiiyaH, ajit The INTERNET now has a personality. YOURS! See your Homepage.
