namaskAraH,

SK Ramachandra Rao, one of the encyclopedic scholars of the Dharma in

recent times, has authored 2 books on Sri Vidya:

1. The Tantrik practices in Sri Vidya

2. Sri Vidya Kosha

I would like to know whether any of our group members have read these

works and can comment on their contents. I am specifically looking to

know whether the former is an abridgement/subset of the latter.

Sri SKR passed away in 2006. I have a copy of srividya

kosa (in fact, I am looking at it as I write these

words). The other book should also be available in

Bangalore. Sringeri mutt has an old branch in

Bangalaore and their publication wing kalpatharu has a

huge publication project of SKR's work. Across from

the mutt, passing thru a straight street and crossing

a main road, there are two book shops (near a movie

theater) where too I have seen the Tantra book. (the

names of the shops and the cinema house escape my

memory now)**. SKR's are master piece (sort of) is a 4

vol collection of Purandara Sahithya ( edited

compilation of ~800 dasa songs of Sri purandara dasa).

This is out of print now though i have a photo copy of

the vols in Chennai. SKR's books are mostly out of

print and kalpatharu alone is pursuing reprinting some

of them. If not for scholarship or for adhyayana,

one has to stand between the shelves (at sringeri mutt

branch of Bangalaore) of newly minted volumes of this

unsung polygot as a sign of respect to the Kataksha he

had. If anybody wants a copy of SV kosha, email back

and we can explore the ways to do that. SKR had also

written a book on Sri chakra and I have a copy of

that book too here with me. Thanks, gopal

**[Moderator note: One of the book shop's name is

Vedanta Book House, Chamrajpet, Bangalore.

It is near Uma Talkies(This is what you say to the Autowala to get

there)]

Dear Sri Gopal

Namaskaram

I appreciate your offer very much

I would like to have both the works.

As a Sringeri devotee I go to Sringeri now and then.

In the book shop I have not seen the above works.

I apologize for spamming but realized that I do have

SKR's Tantrik practices of Sri Vidya book with me

here. I have an older edition of the book as given to

me by Sridhar Seshagiri 6 years back (a photocopy).

The new book I had purchased in 2006 includes much of

the older edition. I think they are under copyright

rules and hence I cannot publicly declare that I would

give photocopies of the books. -gopal

Prof SKRR's works have been published by Satguru Publications and can

be purchased from various Delhi-based bookshops such as Vedams Books

(www.vedamsbooks.com), Eastern Book Corporation

(www.easternbookcorporation.com), etc. Indian residents can place

orders online and obtain the books through VPP (i.e. pay the postman

at the time of delivery).
