Dear Learned Members,

Are there any specific rules for Samputti. Are there any Do's and

Don'ts or do we need to follow our Guru traditions in doing so ?

Also is there any specific rule for adding Bijas for Mula Mantras ?

e.g., I have seen a couple of different versions for Murugan Mula

Mantras. Again is it based on different Guru Parampara traditions ?

Regards

There might be different opinions on this.

My teacher told me that there is no hard and fast rule for

saMpuTIkaraNa and that one can use any mantra for saMpuTIkaraNa if it

is sanctioned by shAstras* or by sAMpradAya**.

*shAstra-s: Sometimes texts directly mention the combination and

procedure.

**sAmpradAya: Even if unable to locate a practice in any surviving

texts, things which are handed down by teachers.

Same as above I guess. I would be interested in hearing from others on

these.

This is common for many mAlA mantra-s. I think people just follow

one given by teacher. Sometimes if one has the mUla mantra of a

devata, the teacher might permit saying any version of the mAlA mantra

of that devata.

Namaste,

I have nbeen a part of the group reading and learning. Have been quiet

without contributing to the group yet I feel today I must reply.

Yes there are rules and Do's and Dont's in Basically ALL Mantra.

As one knows the most common rule is always Chant with Shudha Maans'

and also with Shoodha Roopa. The other thing is the Initiation of a

Guru is widley observed but what I have felt is that we are all God's

Children, our luv for the Mother is so strong than anything, it also

depends on whta our relationship is with our Devine, some ask for

Bonds, some for Blessing but the main thing is hereto look into is Our

Gratitude offered once our Prayer is Blessed. DOnt forget the Devine

after that , which most of us do so, then another day comes for another

request and so on and on....

The reason being these mantras should be read / known only by people

who have got

initiation from their Guru. Any wrong pronounciation of these mantras

will result in wrong effects for the readers. I suggest you can

consult your Guru before CHnating.

Pranam,

Babitha
