Parimala dravyas

Respected Devotees,

 

While doing puja we mention " haridrA kumkumAdi nAnA vidha-vidha

dravyANI..... " .

 

I would like to know 2 things abt this.

1. Why do we mention in that order... haridra first and then kumkuma?

2. What is the significance of haridrA and kumkuma in relation to Ammavaru?

Why is SHE associated with these two parimala dravya's, while there are so many

things available in HER shrishti?

Respected Lalitha,

 

Namaste. As far as i know, the order is not of much importance

whether turmeric comes first or kumkuma or bhasma. They are mangala

dravyaas that confers soumaangalya (long life to one's husband)and

prosperity.

 

In a deeper sense, when bhasma and kumkuma is applied on the

forehead, that should remind us of Sukla Bindu which is white

(bhasma) and Raktha bindu (kumkuma which is red). When both are

applied it means Misra Bindu and that is Kamakala or the entire

cosmos. Shiva-Shakti are the parents of this cosmos and Bhasma and

kumkuma denotes ardhanariswara tattva.

 

Because Mother loves the parimala dravyas (please refer

lalithopakhyana), they are used to please her.
