Dear members of ambaal,

I have received a personal mail which mentions that my posting no. 10400 has a

tone of stri ninda ie., i have insulted women. This is the excerpts from the

posting;

>And moreover, i didnot find any great achievements of girls who were married

off at the age of 8. By the time they are 18, they are mother of half a dozen

children and by the time they are 35 or 40 they attain widowhood. Please donot

bring the cases of Gargi, Maitreyi and other Rishikas to support your statement

>

Well, first thing i would like to say that as far i know, i have never posted

any disdainful comments against women. Infact, i have great respect and regard

for women in general and in particular my own mother and my better half.

A true shaktha sees women as the reflections of Divine Mother. And it is also

my view. As a regular upasaka of Mother Chandi, i reflect on the sloka

" vidyah samasthah tava devi bhedah, strihah samasthah sakala jagatsu.... "

which is from 11th chapter of Chandi.

Bearing the blood of Ganapathi muni, we regard our better halfs as " tapas

sakhi " . That's what Ganapati muni used to address his wife smt. visalakshi

also. Without the cooperation of my wife i would not have become what i am now.

My wife is also an upasaka of Mangala Gauri and she had been initiated in Gauri

Panchakshari at the time of our marriage.

I wonder why certain people try to read between the lines. Sometime back, i

received the comment on sri dakshinamurthy stotra also regarding the sankara's

stri nindha in the sloka:

" stri baalaandha jadopamaah tvamaham iti bhrantha.bhrusam vaadinah....

tasmai sri gurumurthaye namah idam sri dakshinamurthaye "

Well, if this is what they have understood from this sloka, i just cannot help

these people who are always bent upon fingering the people.

Infact, i showed my concerned for women in my mail because that was the

treatment meted out to them earlier. Poor ladies were married off to aged

people at an early age, beget children at a tender age of 18 and by the time

they are 40, they had to tonsure their head and wear white saris. This was the

condition of our " reflections of divine mother " in India. Vashishta Ganapati

Muni was against these customs. Infact, these customs were offshoots of

medieval age not in any way related to 'vedic customs'. And hence, ganapathi

muni re-wrote the " Sadachara Pradipika " and affirmed that marriageable age of

girl is 16.

My sincere advice to the " so-called feminists " who are bent upon read between

the lines to sincerely concentrate on their own business and upasana.

Ya devi sarvaa bhuteshu matru rupena samsthithaah

namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namah

With regards,

sriram
