Dear members,

This is an information regarding the selection of gurunatha which I would like

to share that has been told to me by sringeri acharya and which I learnt from

the guruparampara of Brahmasri Tadepalli Raghavanarayana Sastrigal of

Chandavolu.

As far as srividya guruparampara is concerned, one should maintain only one

gurumandala. For example, if one is initiated in panchakshari, ganapati,

dakshinamurthy and bala from X gurumandala. One should not take initiation of

Panchadasi and higher vidyas from Y gurumandala. If this is the case, X

gurumandala is subjugated to Y gurumandala. Still if one thinks that X

gurumandala is unfit for him to give higher dikshas, then whatever mantras one

has been initiated from X gurumandala, one has to utter and leave all the

mantras in the right ear of the cow and get initiated in the same mantras

alongwith higher vidyas from Y gurumandala.

Moreover, one should not change one’s guruparampara just like that.

Upasakas should stick to one guruparampara and one mandali. Suppose, one is

initiated in Bala from X gurunatha. Unfortunately, the guru attains the siddhi,

the for higher initiations of srividya, one should approach an elderly upasaka

belonging to the guru parampara of X gurunatha.

THESE ARE THE WORDS OF BRAHMASRI TADEPALLI RAGHAVANARAYANA SASTRIGAL AND

SRINGERI ACHARYA.

Unfortunately, people are changing their gurunathas just like that as they

change their clothes. Such people are not aware of what the guru tattva is.

And such people give the examples of 24 gurus of Dattatreya. As far as gaining

wisdom and knowledge is concerned, one can listen to ‘n’ number of acharyas,

but as regards the upasana and mantra diksha of srividya, one should maintain a

SINGLE GURUMANDALA.

Moreover, varna asrama dharma is to be followed regarding the initiations.

Some non-dwijas (who have not undergone brahmopadesa of gayatri) are initiating

the dwijas which is a sin to both the persons who are initiating and to the

person who is being initiated. If they claim that who is dwija and who is not

dwija after undergoing purnadiksha, I ask them to refer the srividya diksha

pramana and sastra for this.

I know this may spark off many comments, but that is how I am and my views are

as far as sampradaya is concerned.

With regards,

Sriram
