viswanatheeswarar temple renovation. as the renovation cost around rs.20

lakhs we need all the members active participation in mobolising funds

for this noble casue. as we are in our kalpoondi temple group it is very

humble request to all of our esteemed members to make it possible for us

to have maximum funds. we have started our efforts during june 2008 so

far we are able to collect rs.2 lakhs and our village people

contribution rs.1.20 lakhs and ambathur balan family rs.2 lakhs.yet we

have to go long way to achive our renovations. please take care.

ARULMIGU SRI VISWANATHEESWARAN TEMPLE

 

The Lord Siva is in different form and different divine name in several

parts of Bharatha Desam Shiva is worshipped as the embodiment of the

primary elements of Wind, Water, Fire, Earth and space in kalahasthi.

Jambukeswaram, Arunachalam, Kanchipuram and chidambaram. with above form

of elements Llord Shiva also appears as linga form in many places. Out

of those places the kasi shethra called as Varanashi is important place

of worship for Hindus. Every one of the Hindus will have liking and

determination to go to Varanashi and worship Lord Viswanathan in thire

life time.

Kalpoondi village is situvated in the banks of river kamandalanathar

river. a beautiful village with aceient heritage. In this village

Arulmigu Attankarai Vazhi Amman temple, Sri Kothandaramar temple and Sri

Visalakshi Ambal Sameda Sri Viswanatheeswaran temples are famlous in

Arni Taluk.

About 500 years ago people from this village have went to kasi and

worshipped Lord Viswanathar. They brought a Lingam in the shape of

`Salagramam' to this village from Kasi. They installed the Lingam with

Avudiyar and named as Sri Viswanatheeswarar and Ambal as Sri Vislashi

Ambal. People from this village and surrounding villages started coming

to this shrine and worshipped Lord Siva as Viswanatheeswaran and had

satisfaction of worshipped lord viswanathar in Kasi. Even today it is

belived in this district that visiting to kalpoondi Viswanatheeswaran

temple is equal to visiting Kasi temple.

Once in this village there was heavy rain and the river kamandalanatha

river was running full of water and started touching the village. The

theret of water made the people to pray to Lord Siva for there safty.

Within shortwhile the flood started slowdown and people are saved by the

Lord Viswanatheeswarar and from that this lord Siva is also called as

" Vellanthangiswarar " The shrine of lord Dakshinamurthy in the south

side of temple is in the form of Yoga Dakshinamurthy. Hence this temple

is worshipped as Guru Parikarasthalam.

The Saint Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal has

visited this village and worshipped lord Sri Visalakshi ambal and Sri

Viswanatheeswarar during his visits to Arni town.
