I am planning to drive down from bangalore, so if someone can also suggest me the route it would be great. Thanks for the help. If you have, please ignroe relevant parts that are not useful to you) Hotel Sathabishekam is a good stay. Temple has a few rooms which I would prefer if vacant. Weekends will be crowded, but you will still manage to get a place to stay. Go with an open mind and dont expect the quality of a decent 2/3/4/5 star hotel. The major difference is that you will be with Sri AmrithaGateshwarar and Sri ABbirami Ambal. Pooja/abishekam/archana etc are fairly simple. Just approach the temple office, pay the required fees(kanikkai) and it will be done. DO NOT FORGET TO VISIT 1. Sri Abirama Bhattar's house which is in the agraharam (now converted into a mess, Dont feel sorry or pity). who did Sri Abirami Andhadhi. I hope you know the story of Sri Abirami Ambal throwing her diamond stud on a new moon day to give appearance of Chandra, as if it is a full moon day, to save HER son Sri Abirama Bhattar. 2. Just about 2 km from the temple there is a temple called 'Thirukadavur Mayanam', which is one of the five 'MahaSmashanams' including Kasi. It is a 'Padal Petra Sthalam'. (Dont literally translate it as a cremation ground- IT IS NOT) 3. I presume you know about the temple. It is where Shri Markandeya was given the boon of immortality by none other than the supreme. Expressly, tell the Gurukkal to show Sri Kalasamharamoorthy, who is a Kaala Kaala and who went to destroy Sri Yamadharma for his Bhakta. You MUST have darshan. They will relieve the plank at the bottom to show you Sri Yamadharmaraja. If you dont ask the Gurukkal, you may not see that sight. The temple's president Deities are Sri Amritha Gateshwarar and Sri Abirami Ambal. The temple's special Deities are Sri Kaala Samhara Moorthy and Ambal who will give you darshan together. I think i have written facts. In case you hear something different from what I have written, go with the pramana and let me know too. Guest guest Posted October 7, 2008 Report Share Posted October 7, 2008 Hello Ananth, To reach Tirukadaiyur, the route is as follows: Bangalore - Hosur - Krishnagiri - Uttangarai - Tiruvannamalai - Villupuram - Tirukoilur - Cuddalur - Chidambaram - Sirgazhi - Vaideeswaran Koil - Mayiladuthurai - Tirukadaiyur. Boarding + lodging is available on the road leading to the temple at Hotel Sadabhishekam. You can contant one of the numerous priests for details regarding the puja. Abhiramiamma is my Ista devatha. My first experience of the divine mother started in this very temple. Thanks a lots for your valueble inputs. I spoke to the hotel and have reserved a room.
