In literal sense, it implies that one should not do the japa

of Varahi at Daytime.

There are certain aspects that are only to be learnt from diksha guru.

In Srividya, there are certain japa kAlAs (time) for upasana.

The parA upAsana krama and Lalitha Japa siddhi is achieved in

brahma muhurta; syAmala japa siddhi in Midnoon (aparAhNakAla);

vArAhi japa Siddhi is in mid of night.

Just as the boar / varaha digs the earth very deeply and penetrates

into it, similarly, the mantra anusandhana of vArAhi fecilitates

the chitta of the upAsaka to dig deep into the " hridaya akasa "

or " Heart Cave " in search of " AnahaTa dhwani " .

The " anAhaTa dhwani anusandhAna " becomes easy during the mid of night ie.,

during 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Varahi Devi makes the intellect of the upAsaka to

penetrate deep into the Heart Cave and makes him listen to the Anahata Dhwani,

by removing all the obstructions related to surrounding chakras which is

symbolically represented as " duShTa nigrahA " by Shri Parashurama in his Kalpa

Sutra.

There are gUDhArthAs (esoteric meanings) for Maharatri here which only gurunatha

should explain.

The bAhya varivasya (external worship of Sriyantra) should be performed in Day

and Antar Varivasya / Antaryaga (internal worship of Sriyantra) should be

performed in Night as the amritra srAva (trickling of Nector from Sahasrara and

tasting it through Yoga bandhana)is only possible during Night.

A side note:

Going by similar lines of niyamas, upasaka of mantrini should not insult the

kadamba tree by breaking its branches / twigs; should not pass insulting remarks

against classical singers and classical music. Upasaka of Lalitha should not

bite the Sugarcane with his teeth " na ikShu khanDam bhakShayEt "

One of the reference observed says

Lalita prahne aparahne Shyama Vartali ratrou Brahme para

Then It's Para or Gayatri (Sandhya Vandana) in Brahma kala

Lalita at arunoudaya (when the sun is Red or Orange) , shyama after noon and

Vartali at night. but its not mentioned as Midnight.

along with mantra siddhi even the Lalita,Shyama and Vartali Navaratri's are

Practiced by some Gurukulas with the above rules.

When Divine energy is beyond time and distance, is it fair to limit its

functioning to certain timings. It is only apasmara prayogas are done in a

particular time and I do not think mantra upasana for the welfare of the

Universe should be limited to a particular time.

Regarding Varahi, hridaya is indicated because when one meditates on the trikuti

his anger is aroused and the entire divine energy is wasted through actions in

this regard. Whereas one meditating on the heart gets dissolved in reality, much

easier to dissolve than extract.

Pranams.

Bhagavan Parashurama in Varahi Krama says

// tatrAyam kramo mahArAtrE budhvA svahridayaparamAkAShE dhvanantam anAhaTa

dhvanimUrjitAnandadAyakam avamriShya //

Shri Rameshwara commenting on the above sutra says that

" mahArAtristribhAgAvaShiShTA ratrih " iti; mahArAtrih niShIthah;

tasmin samayE bOdhOttarakAlInikriyAmahah - svahridayEti; sva hridaya rupO

paramautkriShta akAsah tasmin dhvanantam shabdam kurvantam anAhatasya

dvAdaShakamalasya dhvanim .......

*********

So, we understand as per the pramana of Kalpa Sutra that niShi kAla should be

divided into 3 parts. So, roughly, the mahArAtri

falls between 12:00 Night and 1:00 PM. During this time, the commentator

advices us to listen to the " AnahaTa dhvani " in the Dvadasa Kamala (12 petalled

lotus) of the Hridaya Padma.

The varahi mantra makes the upasaka listen to this Anahata Dhvani in Hridaya

Akasa when properly worshipped at Nishi kAla.

These are not my words but the words of Bhagavan Parashurama.

The devata sanchAra ghaDiyAs in the pindanda are governed by corresponding

Marichis which are 360 in number. These Marichis inturn govern 6 chakras in the

body during certain particular intervals of time in 24 hours.

For further reference, seek the opinion of any samapradaya guru.

I don't have the energy and patience of explaining these subtle principles of

srividya to anybody now as i have lost interest in these discussions.
