My dear friends and like minded persons

 

There is a question from some one in the Forum that whether Kumbhmela can be

performed in Irvine in the month of September. The doubt expressed here is as

simple as that there is no river whatsoever in Irvine and Kumbhmela has to be

performed only on a bank of a River and under these circumstances whether

Kumbhmela can be performed in Irvine, California, USA in the next month.

 

Most of you might have seen my recent articles on WATER, PUSHKAR FOR THE RIVERS,

THE QUALITY OF WATER; THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NADI-RIVER AND NADAM – MASCULINE

GENDER and a lot on this topic. Astrologically when Jupiter transits through a

particular zodiac sign, Pushkar is observed for a particular river for 12 days

from the date of entry of Jupiter in that Zodiac Sign. For example, Pushkar to

Holy River Krishna is observed once in a period of 12 years associated with

Jupiter transit in Virgo – Kanya Raasi and similarly it is observed for 12

different rivers and the cycle is repeated again. For the Holy Maa Gangaji,

every year in the Month of Magh – Magh Mela is observed; once in four year Kumbh

Mela; once in 6 years Ardha Kumbh Mela and once in 12 years Mahaa Kumbh Mela.

That means Kumbh Mela is associated with 1) Jupiter Transit; 2) to a river and

on the bank of river. Mela means association of a HIGHER GROUP of like minder

persons in the religious front TOGETHER.

 

Now coming to Irvine, CA, USA, I realize people are interested to perform the

Mela; may be, all of them can not reach a river in India for performing the

Mela; other difficulties associated with it and YET they are interested to

observe and perform. The organizers intention to bring a few like minded

persons together is worthy of appreciation and their desire to retain the

traditional values of Hinduism is praise worthy.

 

Let us all appreciate this move and make this a grand success.

 

I only feel that the organizers have selected a day where planet Jupiter is

neither transiting into Scorpio at that time nor it is SUN SANKRAMAN. 27th

October Jupiter is entering into Scorpio making a pushkar to the Holy River

Bhimaradhi – the origin of which is in Bhim Shankar – one of the Jyothirlinga

Stan in Maharashtra. To the best of my knowledge only TWO PUSHKARS ARE

ASSOCIATED WITH A JYOTHIRLING – ONE IN TRIAMBAKESWAR FOR RIVER GODAVARI AND THE

OTHER BHIMASHANKAR FOR BHIMARADHI RIVER. Therefore these two pushkars are most

sacred for the simple reason that the two rivers are from the Holy and Lotus

Feet of Lord in the form of Jyothirlinga. 17th September is Kanya Sankraman

Punya Kaal. It would have been better for the organizers to select any one of

such days instead of selecting an odd day for such a HISTORICAL MEGA EVENT. For

what ever reason it is, let us all wish it a grand Success.

 

Only one thing happy with this is, the program is falling in PITHRU PAKSH. If

the organizers arrange for some Vedic scholars for properly performing rituals

like TARPAN VIDHAN/PINDA PRADAN etc. that would be of real help to the

participants and the purpose gets fulfilled at least in this area. Organizers

may please make a note.

 

May Many Sadhu and Saints join this Holy Program and send a Message that they

are taking steps for UNITY – Unity among all Hindus without creating confusion

on Caste, Creed and Religion. Hinduism is a religion of Society; it is a walk

of life; it is an accepted style of all living beings; it is for Universal

Brotherhood and Universal Oneness; it is against violence; it is a PEACE LOVING

TONIC; it is against all destructive sentiments-----

 

– but unfortunately caught in the jaws of diversity and now trying for Unity.
