Subhagodayam by Sri Gowdapaadaacharya

The 'Soundarya Lahari' stotra of Srimad Aadisankaraacharya is

known to all of us. Several pandits thinks that the 'Subhagodayam'

or 'Sowbhagyodayam' of Sri Gowdapaadacharya is the base of world

known 'soundarya lahari'. Sri Gowdapaadachaarya was

the 'Paramaguru'of Sri Aadisankaracharya. The first and second slokas

of Subhagodayam is mentiond below.

' Bhawani twam vande bhawamahishi sachhitsukhamabhoot

paraakaaram deveemamrutalahareemaindava kalaam

mahakalaateetam kalitasaranee kalpitatanum

sudhaasindhorwaantarvasati ranisampaasaramayee'

 

'Manastatwam jitwaa nayanamatha naasaagraghatitam

punarvyavruttakshaha swayamapi yadaa pasyati paraam

tadaaneemevaasya sphurati bahirantarbhagawatee

paraanandaakaara parasivaparaa kaachidaparaa'

 

In the first sloka Achaarya Gowdapada offers his pranaams to

Mother Goddess Bhawani and got 'SACHHIT SUKHA' (the real and eternal

happiness), and describes Her as 'Paraakaara'( the other form than

universe), 'Amrutalahari' ( an ocen with 'Amruta' waves), 'Eindava

kalaam'( the colour shade of moon as the moon is 'Amrutakiranaha'.

The Bhawani is out of time limit and time restrictions( 'maha

kaalaateetam'). The goddess can take any form as she likes. And the

mother resides at SUDHA SINDHU.

In the second sloka Achaarya describes the path of yoga in

which a striver can attain sidhhi through conquering KUNDALINI. A

Striver first control his 'chittavrutti'( contolling his mind). After

that he should concentrate on the top of his nose. After that he has

to open his eyes and observe the Goddess in himself. Then the Goddess

appear on him and the striver can feel Her existence in him

as 'Paraanandaakaaraa Parasivaparaa, and also as Aparaa'

Any striver wants to attain 'sidhhi' has to go through the the

way as shown by parama gurus like sri Gowdapaadacharya etc., as such

he may reach his goal without any obstructions and without any

unnnecessary time waste, in an easy way.
