Yagna Daana Tapah Karma Na Tyajyam Karyamev tat, Yagno Daana Tapachaiva

Paavanaani Maneesheenaam Bhagavatgita 18 -5. Most of us chant this sloka quite

a good number of times whenever we take up Bhagavatgita. The Word Daana means

sacrifice or sharing of the treasures with the less fortunate. It is a live and

let live policy in other words. We are expected to share the treasures of ours

with the less fortunate in the society and this is one concept. The other side

of this as per Bhagavatgita is that one gets purified or sanctified when one

sacrifices his belongings or treasures developing a kind of detachment.

 

As per Vedic order of life, there are Dasa Daanaas or the holy Ten Sacrifices

or Shodasa Daanaas or the Holy Sixteen Sacrifices. One among these Daanaas is

Bhoodaana or sacrifice of Land. Other Daanaas are possible during the course of

life, but then Bhoodaana, sacrifice of land is one of the costliest and most

difficult for any individual in these days. We are anyway grabbing at least 6

feet for our final journey and hence we remain indebted to the land also.

Therefore donating of at least six feet would make us feel happy that we are not

even indebted to the Land. Secondly the end utilization is another aspect.

Whether our hard earned money would rightly reach the hands of a proper person

which otherwise known as Patra Daana else it would be again a sin since it

results into Apatra Daana sacrifice to an undesirable person. It has become

quite difficult for me too, to perform this Daana to complete all Daanas as per

Vedic

order of life. I could not afford giving 150 or 200 yards of land to any

person as it is very costly. Ultimately I found a way out which I desire to

place before you all for your information and if possible for participation.

 

There is a school training Brahmin students in Vedas and also in rituals and

this is doing wonderfully well in Vijayawada. A proposal is generated to donate

151 yards (built in too) yards to the organization which is truly and

religiously engaged in training students. Each yard with construction and

registration and legal processing is costing Ra.11000/- Since a human being

needs 3 yards for final journey and therefore, myself and my wife decided to

donate 6 yards together to the organization. Similarly those who are interested

may donate a yard or a piece thereof and in whatever manner it becomes possible.

None of the donors shall remain as the trustees for the property and the

property shall be purchased in the name of the Organization. A stone plate is

decided to be prepared where name of the donor appears. The Governing Body of

the organization shall have no right for sale of the property that is being

donated now. However those donors who come forward with an

offer of 50 yards or plus shall have the right to name the organization of

their choice.

 

The land will be owned purely by Brahmins for educating children and therefore

it becomes a true and continuous process where the aim of the donor gets totally

satisfied.

 

If any one is interested, they may contact me for further details so that the

registration process is completed by Maha Laya Paksha i.e. the Pithru Paksha of

Bhadrapad Maas. Bhoodaana in Pithru Paksha is considered as utmost sacred.

Therefore I am interested in completing the entire process by the Pithru Paksha

which would be in the month of August September. This Daana shall be the

factual and object oriented Daana. This occasion may please be made use of.
