Guest guest
My dear friends and likeminded persons, After quite a long time I am presenting Suryaksetra Series. This particular paper is referred to the strength of India versus other Western Countries. Let me be clear that I am not particular to highlight the strength of India, but surely this remains to be an impartial analysis may lead to self realization of all of us. An interesting study on projected breakdown of research funding for the 2008 National Institutes of Health in USA reveals that an estimated at below $250 million for Bipolar;  for depression $334 million; for Schizophrenia $363 million; and for Other brain disorders (not including Alzheimer which receives $ 642 million) -$4.7 billion while Diabetes slightly over $ 1 billion. Other study reports speaks that American Adults who have bipolar disorder are 5.8 million (2.8% of the US population); position of bipolar on the World Health Organization Scale ranking causes of disability worldwide-7; Life expectancy of an adult with serious mental illness shall be 25 years shorter than that of a person without bipolar disorder; Bipolar patients who attempted suicide ranks to 25%; Bipolar patients whose suicide attempts have been lethal 15-20% and this becomes the highest suicide rate of any psychiatric disorder and more than 20 times higher than the rate of suicide in the general population and more interestingly about half of all suicides in the US can be attributed to Bipolar. Rate of Alcoholism in bipolar men is three times more than a normal man and it is five times more in bipolar women. First marriage divorce rates for people with bipolar disorder is twice as high as that of people with any other psychiatric disorder and three and a half times higher than the rate of divorce in the general population. Bipolar is not a simple madness as explained by Marya Hornbacher in her book “Madness†and herself being a Bipolar patient, she gave a stunning record of the problem. And now what all this means to people of India. Let us see what it means for India – till recently Indians enjoyed Joint Family Life and there were sentimental attachments between people in a family. The festivals etc from time to time brought people in the society together to share their experiences and relax. Interestingly Ancient sages who desired that we should lead a comfortable – sensible life designed the materialistic society with a blend of spiritualism and sentiments. Let us assume for a while that there are no festivals in India like Holi and Rangoli etc; each of us sit in our homes in a desperate mood and this becomes the root cause for a Bipolar. Our Ancient Traditional Sciences are to be therefore respected; they include and lead us to a purposeful, eventful life. At no point of time, we think that our life remained as wastage, but each life is filled up with eagerness, attachment and so on. The divorce rate was too low till recently. Unfortunately it is increasing day by day leading us to face unusual socio-economic problems in the days to come. Children are made to ignore the values of life - I DARE TO WRITE THIS AS WE – ELDERS – OURSELVES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR INJECTING LAZINESS, HATREDNESS AND many such into the way of life of children for known and unknown reasons and we started disrespecting the suggested lines of life of ancient times. Let us see the remedies for this Bipolar, to understand how better we were, and how better we are, and how worst we are leading to. Yoga  (which is a main remedy for Bipolar - is from the Holy Land of India and it is a  order of life and are we serious of our own treasure science?); meditation(this is a way of life for any Indian particularly a Hindu and without worshipping some Lord we do not normally step out of home, but today this system is getting diluted);  baths( unless we take bath we do not do any prayers in the morning which means spiritual life is an in-built life for a comfortable and sensible life and we are unfortunately sending our children even without giving them a bath to the school, for, children get up from bed at JUST school hours and we are silently appreciating this); going out of home and interacting with other human beings(This is a way of life in India due to several festivals and sentimental attachments which help us to join in groups for all functions in the home); long periods of sun shine(this is what we do each day offering waters etc to Sun Lord and this is what we are comfortably forgetting); seeing family and friends several times a week and critically staying sober ( this is what we normally appreciate and do and this is what we are now giving up).     Are we not responsible for the loss of excellent treasures of Tradition? What should we do I shall be back again soon Yours affectionately HARA HARA MAHADEVA DR P V SESHA SAI ASWAMEDHAYAAJI
