Sreeramji,

In Kerala once I met a Srividya upasaka , in a train.,

He told that he is a " Subrahmanya Srichakra " upasaka.

But he didn't explain about the details because he gets down in his

station.

Please explain " Subrahmanya Srichakram " .

Dear Nayan Pradeep ji,

Namonamaha!

Iam at a loss to understand what that means

myself as I have not heard such a term even in a rare text

like 'Saubhagya Tantra', which is now out of print, in which many

such practice-classifications have been mentioned in the missing

four parts(of the popular version) which I obtained from a Godavari-

belt Upasaka as he had a copy.I do not peruse much of it as it is

arcane and it consumes a lot of time for me to understand each and

everything in detail without making any apperceptive mistakes. I

normally do not follow other scholar's interpretations of the book

much as they are little in number and of misinterpretative nature.I

seek my Gurunatha's interpretation to this. So,my process though

lengthy will yield fruitful results.I beg your apology here.Iam just

a simple Srividya Upasaka learning a few concepts from

learned " elders " and doing just the mandatory three things

(Japa,Srichakra Mahameru Puja and Sahasranama) as a part of my daily

regimen as per my Deshika's instructions apart from Trikala Sandhya

Vanadana as per my Veda-Shaka.Also,Iam studying for one exam and

intend to do further postgraduate studies abroad so Iam

really hard pressed for time here with some pertinent issues.

I can however deduce certain things here.Hope

you feel satiated atleast for now in a lilliputan fashion.

1. Kerala is famous for the recondite practice of Skaandeya

Srividya Upasana and its derivatives and adjuncts. However they

insist on Poorna-Deeksha and Anugraha-Shakthipatha of the Acharya

for that, so unfortunately not many are cognizant of this heretofore

esoteric practice.--The man might have adumbrated that subtly.

('Skaandeya Srividya Upasana' means 'Srividya Upasana' as exhorted

and practiced By Lord Subramanya with a variation in the Kaadividya

mantra generally meditated upon and in usance by Dakshinacharis)

2. Alternatively, the man might have meant that he worshipped

Subramanya along with Srichakra/Mahameru and would have melded as

was wont at that instant of celerity to allude to himself as

a 'Subramanya,Srichakra Upasaka' and not 'Subramanya Srichakra

Upasaka'(Please descry the punctuational difference).

3. A third deduction I can proffer from known facts is that places

like Alaphuzha,Tirchur and Kollam are famous for people who do Naga

and Subramanya worship and use a particular 'Ghumbaatighumbha'

ritual which involves a Subramanya Yantra, commonly termed

archetypically as Subramanya-Srichakra in the hermetic Srividya

confines of Kerala.

For lack of further information from you on the nature of the

conversation I can only tell you this much.Since you were in direct

confabulation with the man you might make a choice between the three

possibilities I have cited above or if any more knowledgeable member who

is steeped into the deeper esoteric practices of Srividya can throw

more light on the issue.Maybe Dattayogi Raja Shri Raju Ramanathan or

Harsha Ramamurthy can throw better light on what the term means.

Aum Swasthi Shivaadi Shree Gurubhyon Namaha!
