Guest guest
Dear Kannan ji, I have already dealt with this question in one old posting. Please peruse it. Bronze idols can be kept at home. Idols must be angula pramaanam they say(three inches roughly of height) else they have to be doen abhisheka regualarly. However if an acharya has given for a specific purpose and has not told anything then one can have it. In temples the idols must be hastha pramanam they say as per agama shastra(but this too is flexible and at divine command). One can have idols near puja lamp. whatever be the size or position one should take care of the idols properly. They should be cleaned regularly and done abhisheka daily. Then an intimate connection with the idol and the devotee's consciousness is formed. This saguna form of worship will slowly be transformed into nirguna and niraakara form. Idols are thus helpful. Bronze,Panchaloha,Silver, copper, gold are all allowed but bronze will give least benefits.Gold is 'Shrestha'(best and most beneficial) next comes silver and then bronze(not copper).Panchaloha is used for many purposes of which 'Abhivridhhu'(Spiritual progress is one). One can try dipping a white cloth in rose water and drying it and then drying it in sunshine.Once it is dry dip it in ghee and then light the same before an idol of Goddess Lakshmi atleast every Thursday(Lakshmi Vaaram) in the evening. One who lights thus daily will grow very rich.Just a small tip. But a golden idol will yield the fastest result. Hope this helps.... Shreeram Balijepalli P.S. Iam sorry I do not keep much track of my messages which I have posted earlier except the important ones.I will get orgnaised soon as Iam busy this week very terribly! So it is upto you as of now to search the needle of your answer in the haystack of messages!, if this reply is not enough. That thread of posting was rather elaborate. It also contains an answer to the query what type of Palaka(palaga in Malayalam..hope I got it right this time!) or platform and mandapa should be used and I had broached on the use of Jackfruit tree wood.
