Pujya Acharya Bhagwatanandji Prempuri Ashram, Mumbai as interviewed by pradeep nambiar for sanskar tv ---9321027318 What is the purpose of life? The aim of

life should be SAT, CHIT, ANAND. Life is to create history. If you make God, your aim in life. You get all three- God, fame and materials possession. But if your ambition in life is only materials possession, then you may get them but will not realize God. We don’t know the womb we will be born in, we don’t know the future. We only know the present and God’s gift to us- intelligence, speech and hands, we have to make the optimum use of that. How do we identify our swadharma , our karmabhoomi? We have to have “karm sambhandi chintan”. A continuous thought process

with reference to our goal in life. The first duty in life should be to help the less fortunate ones- by helping them with whatever you have. A person who is hyper active turns even a calamity into opportunity. A person who is lazy turns an opportunity into a calamity. When Hanuman first crossed the ocean to meet Sita in Ravan’s Lanka all adversities he met throughout were turned into opportunities. In life whatever samay, shakthi, samarthya and yogyata we have has to be utilized for the help of others. What is success in life? Bhishma was in

a bed of arrows when death approached him, Jatayu left his body on the lap of Lord Ram. Bhishma intentionally took to adharm to protect Hastinapur. Jatayu to protect dharma intentionally took on Ravana knowing very well that he would lose. Abhimanyu took on 7 maharathis and actually defeated them, till they deceived and killed him. This purusharth later on becomes your prarabdh. Success is when you apply (prayatna and purusharth) yourself for a just cause (dharm) immaterial of the results. What are failures in life? To fall is no crime but in refusing to stand up after you fall is failure. During the samudra manthan [divine churning] first what came out was poison. That was drunk by lord Shiva. After that came the precious stones. Lord Ram took on Ravan with untrained vanar’s and bears. At no time give up your purusharth, your efforts. Always outwit your earlier performance. Which leader inspires you? Lord Krishna inspires me. He was a warrior, a lover, a scientist, an architect, a cowherd, a servant

and a diplomat. He was the first from Pandavas to blow the bugle in Mahabharata. He said it was a message for universal welfare. He won the war for the pandavas without touching a weapon. He had 16,108 wives and could make everybody happy. He was a servant- he served food to Yudhister during his yagna. He had raag-vairagya. He would send message to the gopis through Uddhav when he was angry with them and have the divine dance when happy. What is surrender to God? Message to the youth? Surrender is when you cry out to him- “everything is yours”. Like a cat and its kitten. The cat carries it wherever it goes. Like a young one of a monkey who latches on to it , wherever it goes . One’s you surrender to the lord then it is the lords responsibility. When Vibhishan accidentally killed a small child with his chariot, the Brahmans wanted his life in return. Lord Ram appeared on the scene and offered himself to the Brahmins, saying that he was Vibhishan’s master and that lord Ram himself is responsible for his devotee’s acts. When Duryodhan taunted Bhishma, that being the strongest in the world he could not eliminate 5 pandavas. Bhishma pointed out to Krishna and said that when they are in the Lord’s shelter who can even touch them. Be a doughty fighter in life but at the same

time express your humility to the Lord --- “what is my valor compared to your mercy”. Then you win the war and God also.
