Normally it is done using some inferior mantras of spirits or lower-yakshnis or dakinis. It will lead to very sad consequenses for the doer. However, if it comes spontaneously out of divine purity then the matter is different. He said to you not do Lalitha Sahasranama because it is good. However I would advice you to chant the litany(sahasranama) after getting panchadasi initiation. Alternatively, it might be just sleight of hand by him. But still he incurs the bad karma of cheating people. Dont let your mind run and keep probing what into what happened or what evil people are doing. Look for spiritual satsangh and keep the name of Amba alive on your lips. That will 'Teleport' you to higher spiritual realms! Initiation must come from a Srividya adept who has seen the Goddess and talks(talked) with Her otherwise even if you get Mahashodasi mantra it will be of no effect. So, I would advice you to meet a Srividya adept and get initiation into Srividya somehow and then fearlessly chant the thousand named litany. Please do not stop your daily prayers instead chant the 25 names of Amba which I have posted with the procedure in a posting. Just do the simple puja. If I were in your place, I would stop chanting Mahashodasi and sahasranama and eagerly wait to get initiated and then start. Mahashodasi mantra regimen demands lot of purity and doing it without Nishta,niyama and yama may prove detrimental on the mental nerves and on your pysche. While I fully appreciate the fact that you are highly devoted, I really do not want you to fall into any graver trouble than you faced with the charlatan. So, may your enthusiasm be tempered with some divine sense and act accordingly. Nowadays Lalitha Sahasranama is being done as a sanghajapa....they take umbrage under the view Sanhgaarchane' Sanghajape' ...as is mentioned in LS, but this is wrong interpretation of the litany. Also the very fact that sahasranama is to be chanted in a secretive way is givine in the initial eulogy itself when it is referred to as " Rahasya nama " (secretive names) and do you think it is correct to chant publicly? Prayers are a private and a sacred affair. That is why even Jesus used to exhort his disciples to lock themselves in a room and pray. In fact after the nyaasa we do a 'locking' of the devi ...digbandhanam and then release Her after meditating on Her by telling 'digvimokaha'. Any Goddess when properly activated will reach the zenith in your spiritual horizon and gently pick you up from the abyss, only thing needed is patience and understanding the rules...learn the rules first and then play accroding to Her rules....then a time will come when you can break all rules and freely unite with the Jyoti Pinda of Rajarajeshwari. However I am curious how is object materialization viewed in Sri Vidya I would not think of it as positive aspect for any teacher in general to do that , create material objects ? hmm to me that is very questionable ( not in sense that it is impossible ) but in sense of a point. You can just enquire with the Taxi-wallah or the Auto- wallah regarding the same. Go to Him personally carrying fruits,flowers,betel leaves and nuts and offer the same as is done traditonally. Then request Him to initiate you into Panchadasi or the like.If he finds that you are suitable He will give you after internally asking Eshwaree. Infact he looks very simple and ordinary looking that people will never suspect Him to be a great devotee of Amba. It is a 'non-issue' so to speak as far as the Tantra is concerened. When the universe can be controlled using the Tantra(like how Guhanandaji of the famous Guhananda Mandali used to) then will materialization of objects be a 'big deal'? It is like asking " What is NASA's views on a home built rocket? " . Yes, NASA perse does not deal with it but given its expertise in building huge rockets will a 'home-built' rocket be a 'big deal' for it? However, as you have intelligently pointed out, maybe that is the way people will know of the divine aspect. True, Sathya Sai Baba, uses such miracles to attract people toward God. People need to be stunned out of theier comfort zones and miracles do pave way for that. But if 'miracles' which the charlatan was performing with bought objects using slieght of hand is discerned then people will lose even the midget quantity of belief they possess and will begin to think critically of everything including the existence of God. Srividya is more to do with the internalization of Divine mother into one's soul. To connect the fibre of the inner soul to the powerhouse of Devi-consciousness.
