Guest guest
Dear Sir, These days Iam busy with my exams and hence, I could not post any articles. It is my group, I will defintely post. Iam just replying to persistent queries. If anyone goes on asking me, I take pity and then reply and make that a posting in our group just to keep the group alive. Carry on with the annadanam. Here in Malikapurathu Amba temple, annadanam for 50 people costs 200 rupees.I do that at times. Every night I have a habit of feeding atleast one beggar or a dog some food daily. Apart from feeding crows in the morning. This gives me great satisfaction. Any act which you do should touch your soul only then one can progress spiritually. No use mass arranging programmes. It will definitely add to your good karmas, no doubt but in the end will make you to take another birth to enjoy those karmas. However there is a saying in sanskrit... Na annaodaka samam daanam Na thithir dwadashyaa samam, Na gayathro paro mantraha Na mathurdeivatham sadaa ...so there is no greater danam than food and water but it must be given with discretion and to clear off your exisiting bad karmas not to create new good karmas. There is a subtle difference. First thing which you must do is to search for yourself a suitable Guru. Then proceed in the Datta Marga. Have just one guru either Pithapuram Sri Pada Vallabha or Ganagapura Nrusimha Sarswathy...two gurus are not possible, many guides can be there but guru is eka.... Ekameva na dwityam gurutatwam iti uchyathe More than Annadanam, I would suggest supplying free medicines to poor people, some sort of eyecamp can be held. Or some Aushada Danam can be given to people who cannot afford.Annadanam will just feed the person for one day but Aushadha Danam will save his life or heal his pain. Serve the poorest of the poor and then Your Datta will be pleased. Why Datta?...even Parabrahmam will be at your beck and call....not that you are going to pass any orders... I used to say one small prayer in School. It affected my mind very much. That was way back in third standard and even today I say that daily! It is a Christian prayer. I studied in a convent school with catholicity so all prayers were said. The prayer is of St. Franciss of Assisi,a chrisitan mystical saint.... Saint Francis of Assisi baptised as Giovanni di Bernadone b. 1182 -- d. 1226 A. D. The Peace Prayer of Saint Francis"O Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace!Where there is hatred, let me sow love.Where there is injury, pardon.Where there is discord, harmony.Where there is doubt, faith.Where there is despair, hope.Where there is darkness, light.Where there is sorrow, joy.Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life." The exact origin of this beautiful prayer remains unknown. The prayer was apparently written in France during World War I, perhaps by a Catholic Priest, Father Bouquerel. This prayer does not appear in any known writings of St Francis. It is commonly known as the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis only because it was often seen printed on a small card that had a picture of Saint Francis on the other side, but the card did not make any claim that the prayer was written by Saint Francis. The first known appearance of this inspiring prayer was in 1912 AD when it was published in the French magazine La Clochette. Vasudaivakutumbakam! S Gaaru. All are our brothers. So we can learn divine precepts from any religion. May the import of this prayer be your leading light for your life. Give all to get all but keep a hold on Ego lest it feels that it is doing some thing great! OM, Prema and kind regards, Shreeram Balijepalli Purity, Powers, Parabrahmam... Guest guest
Dear Jabalimuniji, Dwadashi is a very auspicious day as far as the six schools of religion are concerned. For Devi it is a day of archana for Vishnu it is a day of vrata, for shiva a day of abhisheka for skanda it is a day of mantra japa for ganesha it is a day of tarpana and so on. That is why dwadashi is mentioned. Many think that only a few days like chaturdasi or ekadashi are important but in the vedic times dwadashi used to be held with pious regards. Below Iam giving a list of dwadashi vratas with which this day has assumed religious significance. Almost all dasahaavataras are covered in the vratas. I know this is straying a bit away from the main forum discussions but still, Iam supplementing my posting with some information for you. MATSYA-DWADASHI VRATA Matsya-dwadashi is celebrated on the twelfth day of hindu month- Margashirsh. On this auspicious day a devotee should worship lord Matsya -the incarnation of lord Vishnu with appropriate rituals and give charity to brahmins.Prithvi was the first one to observe this particular austerity while she was being abducted to rasatala by a mighty demon named Hiranyaksha.A devotee who observes a fast on this day and worships lord Matsya with appropriate rituals attains to Brahma loka and remains their for eternity. Such a person attain's a divine body when creation recommences after the period of deluge. An issue-less woman is blessed with a virtuous son if she observes a fast on this day.Matsya-dwadashi is capable of absolving a man even of the gravest of his sin. KURMA-DWADASHI VRATA This particular austerity is dedicated to the worship of lord Kurma- the incarnation of lord Vishnu. It is celebrated on the twelfth day of the bright half of the hindu month 'pausha'.The austerity which commences on the tenth day itself when a devotee is supposed to purify himself by taking a holy bath.On the following day he observes a fast and worships lord Kurma with appropriate rituals. He breaks his fast on dwadashi which marks the conclusion of the austerity.A devotee who observes a fast on this auspicious day becomes absolved of all his sins and attains salvation. VARAH-DWADASHI VRATA Varah dwadashi is celebrated on the twelfth day of the bright half of the hindu month-magh.This was the day on which Prithvi had been rescued by lord Varah-the incarnation of lord Vishnu. An idol of lord Varah is installed on a pot filled with water and worshipped with appropriate rituals amidst the continuous chanting of the mantra-'om varahay namah'.Offerings of various articles are made while worshipping lord Varah-sandal- wood, incense, naivedya, etc. After the accomplishment of the rituals brahmins are fed and charity given to them. One who observes a fast on this day enjoys a good health and prosperity.Such a man becomes absolved of all his sins and attains to heaven after his death. NRISIMHA-DWADASHI VRATA This austerity is observed on the twelfth day of the bright half of the hindu month-phalgun.A devotee should observe fast on this day and worship lord Nrisimha with appropriate rituals. This particular austerity is capable of absolving a man from all his sins. VAMAN-DWADASHI VRATA Vaman dwadashi is celebrated on the twelfth day of the bright half of the hindu month-chaitra.A devotee should observe a fast and worship lord Vaman by saying the following prayer-O Lord!Vaman-the dwarfish incarnation of the almighty Vishnu, who took incarnation on the auspicious day of dwadashi in the month of chaitra-I seek your blessings. " One who observes a fast on this day is blessed and protected from all kinds of danger. JAMDAGNYA-DWADASHI VRATA This austerity is related with the worship of lord Parshuram who is also famous as Jamdagnya. It is cele- brated on the twelfth day of the bright half of the hindu month-vaishakh.Before commencing the rituals, a devotee should purify himself by taking a bath and then worship an idol of lord Parshuram kept on a pot filled with water. While worshipping he should make offerings of various articles tothe deity-flowers, sandalwood, ardhya, etc. It is mandatory to remain awake for the whole night. On the following day,he should donate the idol to a brahmin.A devotee who observes a fast on this day gets all his wishes fulfilled and attains to Brahma loka. KALKI-DWADASHI VRATA A devotee should commence this austerity by observing a fast on the eleventh day of the bright half of the hindu month-bhadrapad and break it on the following day-dwadashi.He should worship lord Kalki with appropriate rituals. As per the norms of the rituals, the idol of lord Kalki is placed on a pot which is filled with water. This idol is donated to a learned brahmin on the following day-trayodashi. PADMANABH-DWADASHI VRATA This austerity is related with the worship of lord Padmanabh-an epithet of lord Vishnu and is observed on the twelfth day of the bright half of the hindu month-ashwin.One important charecteristic of the ritual is that all the organs of lord Padmanabh is worshipped. The idol is placed on a pot filled with water and while worshipping offerings of various articles are made- flowers, fruits, sandalwood, etc. On the following day the idol is donated to a brahmin. One who observes a fast on this day enjoys a prosperous life and attains to the abode of lord Padmanabh. DHARNI-VRATA This particular austerity is observed in the hindu month of Kartik. The rituals commence by worshipping various organs of lord Narayan Similarly, srikrishna dwadashi is celebrated in the hindu month of Ashadh,shukla- paksha.A devotee should worship lord Krishna on this day and observe a fast. BUDDHA-DWADASHI VRATA Lord Buddha is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The austerity begins on the eleventh day of the bright half of the hindu month-shravan.On this day lord Vishnu is worshipped with appropriate rituals and by making offerings of various articles like flowers, fruits, incense, etc. Aprt from the above, there are some days on which selection of holy basil leaves(tulsi) are prohibited - Sunday, last day of dark lunar phase (Amavasya), twelfth day of every Hindu month (Dwadashi), `Sanskranti' and till the three hours after mid night. Therefore the leaves should be collected, well before the above mentioned days and times. It is said that during these times Tulsi devi enters the plant leaves from the stem and meditates on Lord Vishnu. This too highlights the importance of Dwadashi. The vibrations on the dwadashi day due the moon reaching a bening position in the horizon is considered good for the vrata or fasting too. Hope this satisfies you...
