The dashamahavidya deities are different. That stanza which goes like this is in two parts and is the 70th stanza as per phala nirnaya and is the only stanza which is has four lines in the phalashruthi... the stanza does not start with ganga bhavani as is popularly published... it starts with teshu mukhyam dasha vidham I had been giving the names of saharanama with my own commentary and till now a few names have been covered...when i have time i will tell, about it in greater detail..... teshu mukhyam dashavidham namasaahasranmuchyathe ganga bhavani gayathri kali lakshmi saraswathy rajarajeshwari balaa shyamala lalaitha dasha rahasyanaama saahasramidam shashtam dashaswapi....... then next stanza(71rst verse goes on.... tasmaath sankeerthanam kalidosha nivruthyae' mukhyam srimaathru naamethi na jaananthi vimohitaaha .....this comes in the context of hayagreeva exponuding to agasthya as explained by suta maharishi in brahmanda puraanam...in the context of telling that greatness of devi's sahasranama he compares bewteen vishnu saharanama shiva saharanama and devi saharanama and ssay devi shaaranama is the greatest in the order and among them there are ten devi sharanamas and they are that of ganga bhavani gayathri kali lakshmi saraswathy rajarajeshwari bala shyamala lalitha and one who recites anyone of these sahasranam will be free of kali dosha. loukikaan vachanaan mukhyam vishnu naamaukeerthanam .....loukeekas(worldly people say that vishnu saharanama is important) vishnunaamasaharaaccha shivanaamaikamuttamam more than vishnu saharanama shiva saharanama is better shivanaama saharaaaccha devyaanamaikamuttama greater than shiva sharanama is one name of devi! devinaama sahasraani kotisha santhi kumbhaja there are crores of devi sahasranamas(only a few known to earthlings) oh khumbhaja!(referring to Agasthya rishi who came out of a khumba(pot)...(ja means birth) during shiva's marriage and went back to south...according to another lore.....he was born of two vedic celestials out of a khumba due to an apsara.... This is the significance of the dasha and this has no connection with dasha mahavidya which is different. dasha maha vidya devis are tara and kali the vidyas for the above are called mahavidyas(only for very advanced people) then shodasi bhuvaneshwari bharivai chinnamastha dhumavathy these five vidyas are called vidyas(vidya also has an artha of mantra) the last three among dasha maha vidyas are called siddha vidyas they refer to deities Mtangi Kamala Bagalamukhi the first two are for advanced aspirants then next five are for most of the devotees the last three are meant for devotees intent on magical skill and violent results. In this context I would like to mention thjat there is a powerful saharanama called 'Rajarajeshwari Saharanama' given by lord shiva to His son Karthikeya. This is intertwined with the nyasa comprising of soubhagya vidya. I have with me the text and i will scan it soon as soon as iam free...iam right now going to another city for an urgent personal commitment and i will surely translate each word from that superb saharanama too as i do for lalitha saharanama. this group is here to stay and i will not close it abruptly. This group is not just mine, it is Amba Rajarajeshwari's! Iam just trying my best to manage my personal commitements with other activites. rEGARDING THE MENAING OF SHIVA-SHAKTHIIYYKIYA.....The last nama of the saharanama...it refers obviously to the conjointness of shiva and shakthi...b hut there are more gooda arthas(secretive meanings) which i will dwell upon when i come to that nama please be patient. Meanwhile check out all my postings regarding other namas and srividya related quries from the first message of this groupo till now using the message archive facility. Hope this satisfies you. Yours yogically, Shreeram Balijepalli p.s. your other query reaagrding gayathri mantra being done as soorya upasana and srividya upasana is a good one. Yes, it is done in two manners. the Vedic seers knew three things vedas, tantras and aghoram...and they classified all upasanas into three subdivisions. So a truie rishi has mastered all nuances of all vedas(not just four but thousands even on other relams) and can bring the power into their body system and he has also mastered all tantras(not just 64 but many many more) and he should be the greattest aghori(equivalent to lord shiva), then he can be midly called rishi!...then just think about the power of a brahma rishi! gayathri upsana in the vedic way referred to the sun. Infact the agni metaphor was related to the sun metaphor. Agni is a substitiute for sun. Many vedic verses are cryptical and have highly secretive meanings. Gayathri in the srividya upasana way is called yoga gayathri with sampoorna gayathri mantra being the highest known to humans. I will give an elaborate article later. > i keep getting this thought, while doing lalitha, > palastuti,71 stanza describing 10 dieties, > > > ganga bhavai gayatri kali laxmi saraswathi > rarajeswari bala shyamal lalitha dasha > > are they dieties for dasha vidya,i saw the file on dasha maha vidya on > the site,I know gayatri sadhana done as sooryopasana and as sri > vidya, could anyone through light regarding this, > > the last stanza, sri siva sivashaktiikya swaroopni lalitha' > > it would be nice to hear and learn from a sri vidya upasaka, > > > amarnath. >
