Dear Shreeramji,

I feed birds(generally sparrows since I have not seen many crows near

where I live) and squirrels cooked rice and black til on Saturdays.

However, they do not seem to like cooked rice(with or without ghee).

Is it okay to feed them uncooked rice, since they seem to enjoy it

based on my experimentation. I do this since I am running Sani

Mahadasa and ideally would like to feed crows on Saturday.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Dear Balaji,

My heart gladdens when anyone speaks kind of animals or birds or tries

to help them.

In this case even if your purpose is for your own self the birds are

benefitted.

Feed them uncooked rice or popcorn grits or there is even bird food

available in the market. Also feed the sparrows water. Keep the water

in a bowl near the food.

For shani period(sade saathi, ashtama shani or kantaka shani) feeding

crows is best. Sometimes, I have seen that if the person's karmas are

very heavy, the crows do not even touch the food!!(whether the rice is

boiled or not or whether it is with ghee or sesame seeds or not).

I am not surprised as crows do possess a subtle psychic sense of the

preta and karmic realms.

It is not the crow which eats the rice but a preta-atma or shani's law

body which eats the food through the medium of the crow.

If there are no crows, do feed the sparrows and you can feed a black

stray dog or diseased dog with curd rice or bread.

May eshwaree bless you for your kind mind.

Yours yogically,

Shreeram Balijepalli
