Guest guest
From nsv1951 Dear and respected Shreeramji, Kindly refer to my message No. 2380 and your kind reply vide message No.2381, wherein you were kind enough to suggest to get separate initiation for Shreem mantra. Since my guru, who taught me, the Mahaganapathy Mantra, several years ago, is now residing in a far off place, I could not contact him for initiation for Shreem. However, on enquiry through my guides, once again I got two opinions about the syllable mantra Shreem. 1. According to a small booklet published by Shri Bhuvaneswari Peetam, edited by Shri Thiruvengadu T.K. Muthusamy sastrigal and another book, Japamantra mala, edited by respected Srividya exponent late Shre Najan, the ekakshari mantra for Mahalakshmi is SHREEM. 2. Some pandits say, that Shreem is a bija. It should not be recited as such. We should recite either OM SHREEM NAMAHA or OM SHREEM SWAHA. Kindly enlighten me with the correct approach. Thanking you, Yours affectionately, N.S.Venkhataraman
Guest guest
Dear Member, As I said before just because you got your Mahaganapathy mantra initiation which contains " shreem " beeja does not mean you can do the beeja mantra directly without any initiation. " Shreem " is the ekaaksharee beeja mantra of Mahalakshmi and can be done as it is. It depends on your Guru paddhathi. Generally any beeja is a powerful shabdabrahma swaroopam and hence they are not chanted as it is and " om " and " namaha " are given as prefixes and suffixes. " Swaha " is given for homa parikriya but sometimes mantras too contain the " swaha " (antraaagni ahuti+inner fire sacrifice). So everything depends from whom you get the mantra initiation. Eshwaree rakshathu!
