Your contribution is very valuable ,sir.You may also ask other

Lord Dattatreya is a very powerful deity and is the son of Rishi

Atri and Anasuya. He is a " karana Janma " . The " karana " of His birth

are gauged by none.Not even the trinity.

 

But some sources say He was born to

 

1. Preach the Sahajamarga

2. To establish the Avadhutha marga

3. To remove caste hypocrisy and establish true dharma.

4. To evolve a powerful form of Bhakthi and yoga along with normal

worldly duties.

5. For the propogation of the value of Guru.

6. For the true understanding of the Vedas and Sanatana Dharma.

7. For Tantra-chedana because of nefarious uses of Tantra(Though he

was agreat Upasaka of Devi and even taught Lord Parasurama Srividya

kramams)

8. The elucidation of Tripura Rahasyam.

 

But as far as Iam concerned...I cannot really gauge why he was

born... what the " karana " (causative factor) was. And I think except

Himself, no one can know.

 

He Himself is very shy and does not mingle with the ordinary society

and still supposed to live in Girnaar forests(His age if at all

counted might be many millions of years, just keeping count of

current kalpa. 1 Kalpa incidentally is 4 yugas).

 

He has learnt Tantra from many Goids including Shiva. He is an

expert in Vipareetha Uddimara Tantra and it is now called Datta-

Tantra.

 

He is the puissant Avatar of the trinity and all avadhutas like

Saibaba or Akkalkot Maharaj come from his sampradaya after Him and

are hailed as his incarnations.

Subramanyamji who is just three or four years elder to me has

already grown a bit bald and has full grey hair! All because of the

tension of the temple, service,etc.(He is in his early thirties)

 

He physically lifted the Chickengunya patients and helped around 200

families in just one day. He has done Annadana(serving of meals to

poor people) to many thousands of his people using his meager income

as a clerk in Life Insurance corporation.

 

His wife and parents despise him and say to him " why do you invite

all people to your house and feed them? Why do you give away money

so freely...what if they cheat you? "

 

But he just smiles and says " My Lord Dattatreya will take care of

everything " .And invariably He does after lot of torments and taunts.

 

He is very humble and despite his financial problems and not a penny

in his pocket he bought some gifts for me and my family. It really

moved my heart.

 

He is also failing in the departmental exams because of his service.

Last week he failed his departmental exam because he worked to save

Chickengunya victims and medical camps till night 12:00 pm and had

exam in the morning.

 

He is a true Dattabhaktha who does sadhana of his dwiaksharimantra

and mala and also Gayathri Mantra three times a day.And gives all

his money serving people and spreading the name of Dattatreya. He

even helps leper victims and lifts them in his hands. Such

compassion is rare.

 

Moreover he goes to all Dattakshetras and has varied experiences of

Datta,including getting his blessings once in a form of a Nagnayogi.

(Dattatreya belongs to a class of Nagnayogis too...Digambara

means " wearing the sky as the cloth " ...dig=sky/space and

Ambara=Cloth)

 

He used to climb all the 8000 odd steps of Girnaar, which is even

more in number than Tirupathy steps and more arduous given the steep

of each slope. For each step he chants his Mantra and thus completes

16000 repetitions each trip to Girnaar.

 

He also gets the dream of any kshetra which I tell him to visit

beforehand(For example, Ksheena Datattreya Temple).

 

Though he calls me a yogi and takes my advice, Iam no one compared

to him.

 

But being a man of high morals,charaecter and upbringing he never

opens his mouth for money before me or anyone but humbly asks them

to help for Dattatreya temple.

 

He carries a small company diary with him always and notes down

every idea which I tell him to propogate Datta Nama and does every

single thing!

 

A few noble people like Sriram Kalaga of Florida,USA have given him

a few contributions for Annadana. But still he neeeds more for his

temple.

Incidentally he is a believer of Annadanam...Na Annodaka samam

daanam they say in India Philipji....It is also mentioned in Sri

Guru charitra too.

 

 

 

He is blessed with a son and daughter and his son who is not even

three years of does the Dattamantra daily 1008 times with faith!I

will ask him to send a photo of his son who donned a ochre robe. He

looks like Baladattatreya!(He fears he might not be able to provide

proper education for his son as his Bhakthi for Datta is so over-

powering his life. Though I know Datta will take care of his every

need)

 

He needs Rs.15 Lacs more for his temple(roughly $35OOO).The temple

has some potion constructed and still the idol has not been finalzed

for lack of money. The people there are jealous of his goodness and

try to imbroglio him in stupid local politics. But he is not a

political animal like them.

 

For some affluent Indians in my groups, it is just half of their one

month's salary! Yet they fail to donate even a penny yet get all

prasadams and Datta information couriered from him. I do not say

this is wrong but one should also do something for the temple.

Deserve before you demand.Please forgive me for this harsh tone, but

iam getting emotional seeing his plight.

 

Now, I know why Jesus said " It is easy for a camel to pass through an

eye of a needle than a rich man entering my kingdom " (Huge stacks of

notes yet a miniscule mind)

 

I saw a TV clipping of a millionaire in USA who burnt a stack of

$100,000!(like how lottery winners do!) just for the fun of it! This

program came ironically after Subramanyamji took my leave and

boarded a local bus humbly as a standing passenger (he did not even

have fare to go in an auto and would not take anything from me)

 

He did not have even a meal in my house despite my repeated asking.I

promised him of my own money and also of all sad-bhaktha's money and

that I will ask on his behalf and hence the need for that posting.

 

Even when walking in the road he sees a beggar he would be ready to

take his shirt out and walk barebodied!...For it is in giving that

we get, it is in dying we are born to eternal life...

 

It is rare to see such persons.Iam lucky I have him as my friend.You

Even for internet he has to walk miles from his home town and the

connection is very slow and costly(given his meager income).He just

attends to the group activites and Datta prachara the internet and

not for job searches or the like.

 

He asks people to do the Datta mantra with faith and also gives

advices for saptaahikam(He has done it many times).

 

The very name of Dattatreya sends him into frenzy. Many people have

simply collected money from him with that name much to the chgrin of

his family!

 

He said to me finally when he boarded the bus to his small town,

" This shareera(body) is for Datta and it will die after doing its

work sir " .

 

Frankly speaking, I dont deserve that last attribute... " sir " from

him as Iam nothing compared to him. I remain ever his humble servant.
