Guest guest
In today's " The Deccan chronicle " this news has come . dated 17th Oct 2006. Sadhvi vanishes, leaves pile of ash Amravati (Maharashtra), Oct. 16: A 21-year-old Jain sadhvi mysteriously disappeared from her living quarters here on Sunday, leaving behind a pile of ash shaped like a human body, leading to claims that a " miracle " had reduced her to ashes without damaging anything else in the room. Although the police has registered a case of accidental death, it does not have a clue as to what exactly happened to Sadhvi Siddhashri. The police has sent the ashes for analysis to the forensic laboratory in Nagpur and has recorded the statements of other clerics who were in the living quarters at the time. The theory of incineration has come under suspicion because even the carpet on which the ashes were found was not damaged and there was not a spot of soot anywhere else in the room. Besides, a chit with some lines supposedly written by Siddhashri was found in the room. The date (October 14) on the wall calendar had been encircled with her name written across. There was also no smell whatsoever of burning flesh or fuel inside the room. Sadhvi Chetana, who was in a room across a partition, said she saw a " blinding " flash of light in Siddhashri's quarters. When she rushed into Siddhashri's room, she found her " reduced to ashes " on the carpet on the floor. Siddhashri was asleep when the incident occurred. Sadhvi Chetana immediately alerted the office-bearers of the society which owns the building where the clerics had been given quarters, who, in turn, alerted the police. A theory that Siddhashri was burned down by a highly inflammable and odourless fuel was soon discounted because there were no burn marks anywhere else in the room. The incident soon got dubbed a " miracle " as there was no logical or scientific explanation. Hordes of people began of visit the spot to see the " miracle " for themselves. The police has registered the statements of those who were in the building when the alleged incident occurred. They have also sent a team to Rajasthan from where Siddhashri hailed. Siddhashri is originally from village Ramgadh in Byavar tehsil of Ajmer district. Originally known as Samata Khabiya, she was inducted into the order on February 10, 2000, at a ceremony in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
