One of the really heart moving videos to see people

suffering so much. God really bless that soul and hope

he blesses us to be someone like him too.

My dear Shreeram garu, Namaste. I was just reminded of my younger days in 1976 as a MEDICO in Bombay when I was the President of ROTARACT CLUB OF BOMBAY CENTRAL.We had started ASHA DAAN- a 100 bedded home for the dying destitutes of Bombay. The idea was originally conceived by Late Mother Theresa. We started the home in a 9000sq ft godown of Thackersey Mills in Sankhli Street in Byculla area of Bombay. The late cricketer VIJAY MERCHANT, who was Thackersey's son in law,was magnanimous enough to lease us this huge godown in the busy commercial environs of Byculla. It was inaugrated by Rotaty International Governor JACK DAVIS in the august presence of Mother Theresa,SB CHAVAN,MADHU DANDAVATE & Ambalal khilachand who was our Rotary Dist Governor.we bought metal beds from scrap merchants in Mohd ali road, got them repaired & painted & then donated them to this Asha Daan. Many philanthropists bought each of these

beds for Rs.100/- each & helped us financially.we raised the remaining money by collecting old raddi newspapers from different homes in Bombay Central & sold them.I used to take my senior hostel mates & my classmates to attend to the medical needs of these destitutes. The place was overflowing always At any time there were nearly 300 inmates & some had to be requested to share their beds while others slept on the floor. It was very satisfying to help such destitutes. One sees GOD in them truly(although they say that you are their god !) & serving them is Madhava seva.Manava seva ye madhava seva !.Later on the place was handed over to the Sisters of Charity & today they are managing it with their funds.everytime I go to Bombay,i make it a point to visit this home & feel very delighted.I request all members of this gropu who live in Bombay to please pay a visit to this home for the dying destitutes. I have some ld

paper cuttings & some old black & white photos that i can upload.i do NOT want to do it rightaway as I do not believe in blowing one's own trumpet. We had adopted all the blind students of Victoria School for the Blind in Tardeo & helped them in their Medical, economic, academic & emotional problems.I particularly remeber one ANIL DIVATE who went on to become a celebrity. -----Fight back spam!
