Dear Sir,

Prathyangira Upasana is not a joke. My Gurunathar forbade me from

doing it, performing the homa(in which I can call myself somewhat of

an expert by the graces of my Guru),revealing too much about it.

I understand your drive for the Upasana.

To be called an upasaka, one must know the moola mantra. Also vigraha

aradhana for such a tantric deity must be preceded by moola mantra

deeksha.

Moola mantra is given to the sadhaka after some tests and tribulations

(including Gayathri purascharana).Else, Prathyangira Maha shakthi

will strike heavily the doer or at best have no power except maybe

give a small experience now and then. Some Tantric sources also

frighten away prospective sadhanas by saying to chant once the moola

mantra one must do 1008 Gayathri mantra repetitions to be able to

withstand the power!

Naivedyam, oil etc are puja regimen details which change from

situation to situation. In the sense, that the manner and form in

which Prathyangira devi is worshipped for.

For example, there is a Gnana-prathyangira margam which is a satvic

way of worhsipping and Dakshinacharis(some) follow it.(For this

satveeka naivedya like milk and payasanna is used and not madhya

(alcohol) and maamsa(meat))

Also, Srividya Upasakas though paying heed to Prathyangira Devi tend

to concentrate on Lalitha/Rajarajeshwari Devi more.As it is Navavarna

puja deals with this deity too.

If you are interested in further details then please approach the

Courtallam Peetham(Siddheswari Peetham of Mouna Swamy fame) and meet

the Peethadhipathy or you may alternatively meet Bhuvaneshwari

peetham in Ambattur, Chennai but my Gurunathar does not encourage in

general Prathyangira Sadhana. Not that we do not conduct homas or

japas but that it is done in rarity.

Yours yogically,

Shreeram Balijepalli
