I keep getting emails and postings wherein people say " Thanks in advance " .I have

seen this more with Indians.

I also think that someone may feel offended or uneasy because this is a

culturally inept expression.( " Thanks in anticipation " is even worse because it

means that the person is thankful if the person helps but is extremely

disappointed if the person does not help!)

This is not a proper/correct English usage.

Never say: " Thanks in advance "

A simple " Thankyou " is good.

or " I would be grateful for your help "

I know Im taking an English lesson here but there is a spiritual reason behind

it and it is being " unselfish "

When you say, " Thanks in advance " , are you trying to say to the helper; " Im

going to thank you now in a hurry and so you better do the thing for me " and

then quit the scene and that you are not going to thank him/her again after the

help is rendered?

I'm sure you do not mean it that way! Best is to use the above phrases and then

when the person helps then again send an email or personally thank the person.

I don't mind such phrases as Im not doing anything to anyone for the sake of a

" Thanks " !We are all children of Divine Mother and must express our gratitude to

our brothers and sisters for every little help received.

Thankyou very much,
