Guest guest
Namaste everyone; I bow before my Satguru, Jagat Janani, and all of the assembled devotees. I know that there was a request one of our brothers made regarding formality. Like God, I think that humans are multi-faceted beings with various differing expressions of personality as well. Thus when I am in " informal " mode, I'm " knee-deep in in-f**king-formal mode " . And that is one dimension of my personality that I have learned in the last few weeks that is uninvited in this chat group. I apologize if my blatant example of my regular " casualness " offended anyone. Anyhow, Kochu Uncle, I'm sorry but I have to disagree with that Sanskrit quote. As in the past, the jnana(wisdom) of one lineage can often conflict with another. My lineage, the Nandinatha Sampradaya of the Kailasa Parampara currently teaches-and I quote from Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami in his book " Dancing With Siva " under the sub-heading of 'Does God Ever Punish Wrongdoers?': " God is perfect goodness, love and truth. He is not wrathful or vengeful. He does not condemn or punish wrongdoers. Jealousy, vengefulness and vanity are qualities of man's instinctive nature, not of God. " It is interesting to note that in this page of Subramuniyaswami's book, the opposite page is of Maa Durga in Her twenty-armed form killing Mahishasura. Subramuniyaswami's statement however itself CONTRADICTS the holy " Tirumantiram " , written by our lineages paramguru, Tirumular. The " Tirumantiram " reads in Tantra Four; Section 6; Verse 1082 titled: " BHAIRAVI FURTHER DESCRIBED Of ethereal Form, vine-like, Vengeful to those who err, She is wisdom and knowledge true She is bedecked in jewels, She is green as parrot, Gem-like lustrous is Her Form, Plaited with precious stones several is Her robe. " My personal conclusion is that my Maa manifests Herself in every religion in a variety of beliefs, creeds, practices, etc. and I choose in my personal projection of reality to see Her as ever loving, never, ever, EVER harming. Creation, preservation, dissolution, concealing, and revealing are just five of Her many powers. Nrguna, Saguna, sure...whatever. To me that is NOT relevant. What IS relevant is HOW my relationship is with Her outside of the advaita aspect- since most of my time and mind is spent in bhuloka. Her greatest power, I believe, is Her power to LOVE. She loves, and loves, and loves without an inch of expectation! God is ultimately your experience of the Divinity within you. So I ask all those people who believe that they are guilty in the eyes of Maa to not be so hard on themselves. Then again, who knows? You being God, maybe you DO want to punish and HARM YOURSELF! And Her being the Gracious Giver shall grant that which YOU WILL to experience. I'm not claiming to be a very knowledgable person. Believe me, I'm pretty silly and foolish with my friends when I'm not in serious mode. But hey, everything I've said is just a projection of my own antahkarana! And it's a belief that no sastra, tantra, Veda, purana, or guru could EVER change! My relationship with Maa, Murugan, Ganesh, and Ayyappan is JUST that; MY relationship WITH THEM-nobody else's. P.S. Hey Angie, how's your research of Buddha in Hinduism doing? And Richardji, " Dancing With Siva " is THE book that changed my life and brought to my attention just how much Siva loves you, me, and everything else that IS Him/Her!! My pranaams, love brother Shyam. ____________________ Web-hosting solutions for home and business! http://website..ca
Guest guest
Dear Shyam: As you rightly put belifs and practices vary from system to system and between each upasaka even in the same system depending on various factors. I do not think that any Godhead will always be eternally merciful. In Sri Vidya sampradaya, as one progresses one realises "thou art that". That is one realises one is the upasaka, upasya and upasita. Good that you project is returned multifold. If you project evil it too will be reflected back. When one reaches the Para upasana state you realise that it is a Nirguna Brahman. - Shyam Wazir Saktha Family Friday, January 11, 2002 8:53 AM re; Corrections Namaste everyone;I bow before my Satguru, Jagat Janani, and all of theassembled devotees.I know that there was a request one of our brothers made regarding formality.
