Guest guest
Namaste everyone; Angie, no, I am not older than you. I am only 21. I say " bother " due to proper Hindu etiquette. I'll start saying " bhakta " , which means devotee. 1) Anyhow Angie, a Satguru is a being that has attained nirvana and is capable in leading others securely along the spiritual path. In some circumstances a Satguru is necessary, especially if one does a lot of deep breathing meditation and energy work with the chakras in an attempt to rid oneself from the past impressions of karmas left over from previous-(and future!) births. The Satguru's psychic protection can pierce through the multi-dimensional substratum in the " spirit realm " and connect with the subtle aspect of the disciple's nervous system. Hence the Satguru lets the student know, through intuition, what steps the student should make next in his/her spiritual unfoldment. 2) 'Jagat' is Sanskrit for 'universal', and 'Janani' is Sanskrit for 'mother'. Hence I call God the " Universal Mother " . Hey Angie, did you do " it all for the nookie? the nookie? so you can take that cookie-and stick it in your YEEAAHH! stick it in your YEEAHH! stick it in your YEEAAHH! " Ha Ha Ha! (it's an inside joke for people who are fans of the rap/metal band Limp Bizkit). 3) I can't remember who asked about the necessity of a guru. But there's an incident in The Mahabharata that you might find interesting. Drona (the Pandu's and Kaurava's teacher in warfare) taught all the kids in the area. However, one kid - for a reason that I can't remember - wasn't allowed to enter the school. I don't remember the kid's name either so I'll just call him kid. So this kid constructed a clay statue of Drona and worshipped it as if it were Drona in the flesh. After he worshipped it according to traditional Hindu protocol of praying to a guru, he practiced war crafts ie; archery, fencing, martial arts, etc. One day Drona was strolling along the bushes with the other kids and saw this statue of himself. The kid who built it soon came and saw Drona so he prostrated before Drona, for he now saw his guru in flesh. Drona then asked this kid to demonstrate what he's learned. The kid shot an arrow and to Drona's astonishment the kid was a better archer than Arjuna, one of Drona's students (whom Krishna spoke the Bhagavad Gita to). So Drona demanded his guru dakshina (a " fee " or " exchange " guru's charge for students learning. This leaves the student not owing a debt to the guru). This kid asked Drona what he should pay? Drona asked for his right thumb! The kid swiped off his thumb with a dagger, or sword, or whatever, some sharp weapon. Drona thought that IF in the future the kid fought Arjuna, Arjuna would always side with righteousness so thereforth Arjuna would need to win in the duel. IN CONCLUSION- yes friend, I guess anything could pose as the guru. But whatever be the source of that knowledge, there is a repayment of sorts. Until next time, my pranaams to you all. Jai Jagat Janani Maa Jagadambae, love bhakta Shyam. ____________________ Web-hosting solutions for home and business! http://website..ca

Guest guest
Hi everybody! Are we not succumbing to terminology when we say " The Satguru's psychic protection can pierce through the multi-dimensional substratum in the " spirit realm " and connect with the subtle aspect of the disciple's nervous system " ? (Ref: Shyam's message). Our subject is the Limitless and we can't be writing dynamics for It. Can we? One feels sad when one looks at the books and websites that have proliferated on " tantra " and " Kundalini " after Arthur Avlon's pioneering work. Most of them go after siddhis and immediate material well-being, not to speak of sexual prowess. Naturally, therefore, there are also sites and authors who warn us about the dangers of " Kundalini " power! They claim that many seekers have ruined themselves trying to fiddle with " Kundalini " . Is it not, therefore, prudent for us to stay clear of all of them? If our goal is self-realization through steadfast devotion to the Absolute (Mother), as declared in the homepage of this forum, I am sure we can do without unnecessary empiricism (Avlon's included). We sure do not have to meditate on the Ultimate with measuring meters. Do we? Pranams to everybody.
