Guest guest
Continued Mantra Siddhi - Mantras give the following powers Santi- Appeasement Vasikarana or Vasya- Power of attraction or subjugation Sthambana or Sthambha- Power of immobilization Ucchadana or Ucchada-Power of eradication Maraka or Marana- Power to kill or liquidation Dvesa or Vidvesa- Enmity Source: Mantramahodadhi In addition there are specific Mantras for almost anything like snakebite, bringing rain etc., Vedic mantras, Devata mantras, Advaitic mantras etc The mantra Siddhi will depend on the mantra and the type of Tantric. Generally there are three groups or classes of Tantrics 1.Tantric specialists who have received initiation into a textual, teaching lineage and their generally elite clients. 2. Tantric specialists lacking in formal initiation, whose training tends to be through oral transmission (or divine possession) alone, and their generally non elite clients and 3.Householder or lay nonspecialists whose personal practice may be qualified as Tantric. The third group, which is by far the largest, practices what is called Soft core Tantra. Most of the Textbooks on Tantra are aimed towards the first and the second group who acquire Mantra Siddhi or the power of the Mantras and use it on behalf of others. These are professionals and Sadhanas like Sava sadhana, Smasana sadhana, Chakra pooja (involving sex) and other esoteric practices are aimed towards these people. These people acquire the power of the mantras and use it. They perform esoteric Sadhanas to acquire the power in the shortest possible time. They have a clientele to serve and they acquire knowledge and power for to enable them to do it. There are good Tantrics and bad Tantrics like we have good lawyers and bad lawyers. Most of the warnings about mantra going bad are directed towards these people and it is generally seen that those who misuse the power of mantras do come to a bad end. Since none of us belong to this class we need not bother about that. Tantras are practical books for acquiring Siddhis. The procedures for acquiring these Siddhis are so elaborate that it is almost impossible to follow them without help from a Guru. The Yantra, the Asana (seat) to be used (dimension, composition etc), clothes to wear, materials to be used etc etc are so specific and mind-boggling.
