dear devotees of Maa,

i have a doubt regarding devotional songs.

i am very much devoted to Devi and Krishna.

Actually my devotion towards God started with devotion

towards Rama.

it then continued with constant listening and singing

of keertanas of annamayya and ramadausu.

i forget myself while singing these songs though i am

not a good singer.

can i continue this while being a devotee of Devi.

will She recive these songs from me even if it refers

to Vishnu as God is one.

i feel myself unlucky as there is no singer to Amma as

there are for Vishnu - annamayya , ramadasu ,

tyagaraju etc.

i read that ramprasad, a great devotee of Kali matha

used to sing songs for Her and even Rama Krishna

Paramahansa used to take inspiration from the former's

life story.

he used to cry

" Mother when You have revealed yourself to ramprasad

then why dont You reveal Yourself to me " .

but there are no casettes which have his songs.

though i can find many local cassettes on Devi, but

these lyrics in this songs do not contain hiddeen

meanings like annamayya songs.

This may be bcos annamayya is considered to be Hari

avatara.

please dont consider me opinion to be too much incline

devotion to Hari instead of Devi.

i want to sing songs on Devi and forget myself and i

cant do it myself.

can anyone direct me to a web site which has songs

sung by a great devotee like ram prasad.

and my another doubt is in all the books that i read i

found some songs on Devi sung by Ramprasad, Rama

krishan parma hansa and vivekananda.

they all are printed in englsih - its quite natural

bcos the books that i read are enlsih books.

but i wonder in whihc language they used to sing songs

on Devi.

Om Sri Lalitha

Hi Saikumar!

In Kerala, Matha Amrithanandamayi Devi sings Maa songs. I am sure she needs

no introduction as her name and deeds are known far and wide across the

globe. She goes into extreme ecstasy singing out to Mother. Like you, she

was also a childhood devotee of Krishna before she started working for

Mother's grace in later life. That does not mean that she has stopped

Krishna songs. Even now, she goes into raptures calling out for Krishna.

For her, Krishna is that naughty son who has gone out alone leaving her

worried. It is wonderful to watch Amma sing Krishna songs. Although most of

Amma's songs are in Malayalam, the prolific Bhajans of her ashram include

other languages also. Or in bhakthi, does language matter?! For more

information, please try www.ammachi.org.

Don't worry Mother will receive your songs even if you continue singing

Vishnu bhajans. Everything is Mother and everything is Vishnu. Why worry

about form? Mother is that ever-pervading Consciousness that goes into and

lights up all forms for you. There is nothing other than That. And That

you are! Sing with that feeling. Don't be the singer - be the song. It is

possible by practice. That is why Krishna said in Bhagwat Geetha -

abhyaasena thu Kauntheya. Of course, the role for Arjuna was different.

Being one with singing is what they call laya. You don't see the singer,

you don't hear the song - because you are the song. Afterall, we are all

one big song. Only the song exists and that is Maa. Call her Vishnu if you

want another name.
