Guest guest
Dear Family I have recently joined this group and have spent a long time reading through all the messages with great interest. I am an Australian of European ancestry (Loladas isn't my legal name, but a description) and haven't met any other Sakthas, so it has been great to read the words of everyday people who love Maa as much as I do. Speaking of love, I am an ardent devotee of Goddess Kali. I think it's great to consecrate one's mundane activities to Her. For example, gardening ceases to be a mere pastime and becomes devotional when bearing in mind that the flowers grown will end up offered at Maa's feet; likewise laying down to sleep for the night is transformed into a prostration, and so on. I am also very interested in external worship (puja, homa, and so forth) and it is in this area that I am always greedy to learn more. I have, already, much information from the Internet and books, and have put together a rudimentary puja which I perform daily. It is a short ritual because I've only included the bare minimum of mantras that I'm comfortable pronouncing. I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to post the words and instructions for this puja of mine on the group in order to get other member's opinions or corrections? I thought that I had better ask before doing this because I remember someone posted a mantra some time ago and received a disapproving response (In connection with this point, I've noticed that mantras with " namah " at the end like those in my puja seem to be freely available and without restriction whereas those with lots of bijas and with the wife of Agni at the end seem to require initiation by Guru. True?). I hope it's all right to post pujas because I think it would be great for everyone to share details of how they worship so we can see the sectarian and geographical differences in worship styles. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Loladas. This group has been started specifically to help Upasakas like you. You are always welcome to post your doubts on the message board. I am sure our family members will be more than willing to help you out. There is a very good source of books, audio and video on Poojas. It is the web site of Shree MAA Ashram. http://www.shreemaa.org Swami Sathyananda Saraswathi is a well-known authority on religious matters. He has written a number of books. They also have on line classes. Get the books, audio and video from them and you will not need any further instructions. I follow Swamiji's books. Unfortunately being located in India I cannot buy all the material from them. You are always welcome to post your doubts. Jai MAA KAALI !!!
