Guest guest
Dear Saktha-family members, I am new to this group and have received some messages recently and have found them to be delightfully interesting. I am of South Indian origin, and was raised Hindu (my dad is a Saivite and my mom is a Sri Vaishnava). I was raised in both traditions which interestingly enough have different forms of Devi that are worshipped in different ways. I have lived (and schooled) around the world and was interested in religion since I was small. I remember going to a Durga temple in Singapore every friday (when I was five years old) for puja and Devi has not left me uninspired every since... Normally, South Indian Brahmins, from my experience, do not do any form of Kali puja (in Brahmin circles, Kali is regarded as Tamas or impure, although this seems to breed prejudice, ignorance and blanket fear instead of quite the opposite...) I was wondering how I could learn how to do a basic daily puja for Kali at home since I have no prior experience of this, and would like to do so... I have read David Kinsley's book on the Dasa Mahavidyas and it's a book worth reading for those that haven't had the chance...
