Guest guest
I know many of you will be sceptical about what I have to say but here goes nothing: I had testicluar cancer (and an orchidectomy i.e. one testicle surgically removed) which makes it somewhat difficult (though not impossible) to have children. A couple of years later I had a baby daughter (whom I have named Trinayani--one of the names of the Goddess). The priest of my local Kali temple had given me a tabeez and I believe that had played a part. But that is another matter. Anyway, when my daughter was six months old, she had intussuception. A medical condition where the intestines telescope in upon itself and blocks bowel movement. It needs surgical intervention. She was operated upon and the blockage was removed. However, a few months later, the condition recurred; and it happened again and again. Until another priest at a Kali bari suggested that I should do the Chandi Path. I did it and I have been performing the Chandi Path ever since on every birthday of my daughter and she has never ever had another recurrence. She is now a healthy, very intelligent, and graceful ten year old. I know many of you will think this is just superstition (and perhaps it is, who knows). But performing the path gives me great peace of mind and it means a lot to me. I also read the verses (without doing the puja) in a casual, relaxed sort of way--as though it were a story-book and that makes me think more clearly, and feel more alive. But that is just a personal reaction. By the way, I am assuming that you know that the Chandi Path and the Durga Sapta Sloka is one and the same thing. They are an extract from the Markandeya Purana glorifying the Goddess through her action in destroying various demons. Sincerely Apratim (as you can see from my name my parents were Vaishnavs)
Guest guest
That is a lovely personal experience shared with all of us. It has instilled faith and inspiration. I invite other group members to share similar experiences and thus increase the fervour in our devotion and path of spirituality. - Amu Tuesday, July 05, 2005 10:35 AM Re: Regd:Durga Saptha sloki I know many of you will be sceptical about what I have to say but here goes nothing: I had testicluar cancer (and an orchidectomy i.e. one testicle surgically removed) which makes it somewhat difficult (though not impossible) to have children. Guest guest
Apratim, It's great to know about your bad experiences and solution of those by chandi path. I don't think it's superstition. Chandi path is very powerful and every body should read it. Guest guest
Jai MAA !!! Durga Saptha Sloki is the essence of Devi Mahatmyam. Unlike Devi Mahatmyam there are no pre requisites for reciting the Sloka. I confers all benefits to the Bhaktha. You should try to learn the basic Nyasa required for reciting the Sloka. You can recite it as many times as possible. Daily recitation is extremely beneficial. In addition to other benefits Durga Saptha Sloki acts as a Kavacham protecting you from all dangers. My son and daughter in law are in Port Blair, Andamans. On the day the earthquake and Tsunami hit Andamans, both of them were in the docks, as my son was leaving for another island. Just after his boat left, the earthquake hit. My daughter in law started reciting Durga Saptha Sloki, ran back to the place where they had parked their scooter, took it and reached home safe before the Tsunami hit port Blair. The docks suffered heavy damage due to the earthquake. My son was on a motorized boat on the high seas and did not suffer. We believe that all this is due to MAA's grace and the effect of Durga Saptha Sloki. Jai MAA !!!

Guest guest
Hello Sezhian, There is a good repository of Sanskrit books available at the following URL http://sanskrit.safire.com/ and Devi Mahatmyam - Shri Durga Saptashati - Chandi Path is available at http://sanskrit.safire.com/Sanskrit.html#Saptashati I was not able to find a decent mp3 audio, but you can buy the Chandi path CD's online. There is a host of these CD's available on online music stores like http://www.musicindiaonline.com/ ( I was not particularly impressed with their collection) Hope this helps in finding your path and destiny. I am a firm believer of " Devi Maa " and the experience of the members of this mailing list proves that the glory of " Maa " is profound and she cares for her children. Jai Maa, Thanks and Regards, Punit Anand --- sezhian <gk_sezhian wrote: > Hi Apratim > > Great Mail. This is a enery booster.Iam in dubai > now > . > Iam not able to find and mp3 or text version of it > after giving a deep search in almost all konown > search > engines. > > Can anyone guide me to find a source of this with > meaning. It will be helpful and greatful. > > Thanks > Sezhian.gk --- Amu <apratimbarua wrote: > > > I know many of you will be sceptical about what I > > have to say but here goes nothing: I had > testicluar > > cancer (and an orchidectomy i.e. one testicle > > surgically removed) which makes it somewhat > > difficult (though not impossible) to have > children. > > >

Guest guest
Durga Saptha Sloki can be recited by anyone. There is no restriction about the time and place. It should be recited every day. The word Nyasa means placing in which the practitioner touches various parts of the body at the same time pronouncing a mantra and visualising a devata or a bija (root) mantra. Nyasa is supposed to " divinise " the body of the worshipper. The methods of Nyasa can be learnt from a book or a pundit. But Nyasa is not absolutely essential. You can recite the sloka without Nyasa. In which case start from Jyaninamabi Chethamsi....
