also known as Devi Pratyangira. is there anyone with pictures related

Pratyungira devi accompanies Mahadevi in

her war with Mahishasura.Hence she is called

" Mahishapranapaharodyame " .

 

There is a story about her incarnation.When Swami

Narasimha killed Hiranyakasipu, the anger of shri

narasimha murti was so terrific that nobody dared to

go near him.In that hour Brahma decided that only a

female sakthi with the strengh equal to shri Narasimha

Murti will be able to subside his anger.And hence

created shri Pratyungira devi.In the presence of devi

,the story goes, Narasimha Murti subsided his anger

and blessed everybody.

 

Pratyungira devi was assigned to got to earth and

guard the devotees against " shatrus " .Pratyungira devi

adore a terrific form same as that of Narasimha

Murti,is " satru samharini " .She protects her devotees

from all forms of harm.

There is a temple for Sri Maha Prathyankira at Sholinganallur near Chennai

and Sri Ugra Prathyankira at Ayyavadi near Kumbakonam. Both these temples

are very famous. For photos of Ambal you can search the net and you can get

her photos. You can also goto site jaibhuvaneswari.org, where you can find the

photo of ambal. Prathyankira Swamigal at Sholinganallur Temple is a great

devotee of Sri Maha Prathyankira.
