tava swaadhisthaaney hewtavahamadhistaaya niratam

tameedey samvartam janani mahataam tanca samayam

yadaalokey lokaan dahati mahati krodha kalitey

dayaardaayaa drushti sisiramupacaaram racayati

 

Your Swaadhistaana (cakra has the) Fire (element) Presiding (burning)

Continuously

 

Him ( I ) Worship (the lord) Samvartam (the destroyer) (oh) Mother! , (in)

Glory (manifested (along) With (him, are you as) Samaya

 

(this lord with his) Look (the) Worlds (he) Burns ( with the) Power (of his)

Anger (when) Disturbed

 

(and then you the kind mother, with your) Merciful Look Ice Treatment (you)

Render (to cool and revive the worlds)

 

This verse describes the spiritual experience iv Swaadhisthana Cakra whose

element is Fire, Adhidevata Rudra and Loka is Bhuvarloka. As the element is fire

, the devotee experiences the burning power of Rudra the lord of the Cakra. The

heat is like that at the time of cosmic dissolution when Rudra in his anger

destroys the worlds. His might is such that he can burn the worlds by his angry

look. Devi is in this Cakra as Samaya to revive the worlds. The raging fever is

cooled by applying ice. Such is the power of her glance and her mercy. Like a

true mother she protects soothes and rejuvenates the world.

Order of Cakras as described in Soundarya Lahari is different from the order

as correlated with different places in the body. Swaadishana is understood to be

just above Mooladhara and below Manipura. But in Soundarya Lahari these are

related to the elements in order of Earth, Water and Fire.

 

Yantra is a square with Bijaksharams arranged in two rows at the centre.

1st row-- Tham (Th pronounced as th in ant-hill) , Pum (like sum) , Puh (Pu

same as before and half)

2nd row-- Shum ( Sh as in show), Sum

 

Expected result of upasana is relief from nightmares/bad dreams
