Shakti Peethhama 50 or 51 ?

Pancaasat means 50 and it is said Sati's body was cut into 50 pieces. But Shakti

Peethams are 51. There is another view that As Sri Devi is Maatrukaavarna

Roopini (LS-577), she is present in the Maatrukaas of Sanskrit. If one counts "

Ksha " as a separate Maatruka and not just as combination of " Ka " and " Sha " ,

the number becomes 51. Otherwise, there are only 50. Even if the list I posted,

there is some confusion about whether Meru and Girivara are separate or the

place is Merugiri . It seems the confusion is due to different Sampradayas or

Paramparas.
