Guest guest
Pancaasat means 50 and it is said Sati's body was cut into 50 pieces. But Shakti Peethams are 51. There is another view that As Sri Devi is Maatrukaavarna Roopini (LS-577), she is present in the Maatrukaas of Sanskrit. If one counts " Ksha " as a separate Maatruka and not just as combination of " Ka " and " Sha " , the number becomes 51. Otherwise, there are only 50. Even if the list I posted, there is some confusion about whether Meru and Girivara are separate or the place is Merugiri . It seems the confusion is due to different Sampradayas or Paramparas.
