Guest guest
Meenakshi temple to have computerised ticket issuance system Madurai, Oct 11, 2007 Sri Meenakshi Amman temple in the city is in the process of becoming the first temple in the state to have a computerised ticket issuance system. According to temple executive officer B Raja, " the system is on trial since Vinayakaya Chathurthi and Sri Meenakshi temple will be the first one of its kind to issue computerised tickets for various poojas " . " If it is proved successful, it will be introduced in other temples also " , said a senior official of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department. A 'temple billing software' developed by Rite Consultancy Services has been installed. The company has also provided training to the temple staff for using the system. The system provides for efficient monitoring of temple collections and daily tallying of accounts. He said that the computerised tickets will also be issued for foreign visitors. Except for special darshan, 'mavilakku', 'tirukalyanam' and archana, computerised tickets would be issued for all other poojas. A high-speed printer has already arrived to print tickets, he said. The computerised tickets are also equipped with information about various services and their prices. Recently, the temple had launched e-pooja that helps non- resident Indians and devotees across the country to make advance booking for the poojas. The temple's website, http://maduraimeenakshi.org , can be accessed by the devotees for booking 'poojas', 'abhishekams' or for buying 'prasadam'. The temple has the facility to accept donations made through credit card. " The e-pooja facility for now is not very popular. But as the facility becomes popular, we hope more devotees would opt it " , Raja said. The temple has appointed a person to regularly go through the e-mails received for poojas, offerings etc. " One can make donation for the free meals provided by the temple in the afternoon, for abhishekam or for expenses of one-day full pooja or archana, " he added. http://www.zeenews.com/znnew/articles.asp? aid=400419 & ssid=8 & ssname=Travel & sid=LIF & sname= or http://tinyurl.com/2ufd49

Guest guest
What I always found fascinating about Hinduism that it always came across to me a religion open to societal evolution. I think if more religions were set up similarly, they would be equally as successful. If I am not mistaken, Hinduism is growing very popular in the West now along side with Islam. Again, please correct me on this if I am statistically wrong. Guest guest
Sure, it's easy to buy a date with your favorite deity. the priests see nothing wrong with wasting all resources on devas when humans are starving and sick right alongside. And nobody can get a word in edgewise because of the blanket fear that to do so they will incur the Devas wrath. Not to mention the fundamentalism involved. Priests in Hinduism are no better than priests in catholicism or any other religion. They are are trying to bottle water to sell you. In this world, Goddess is everywhere and omniscient. You cannot buy Her. No matter what they tell you otherwise. Spend you money on food and clothing and resources for the less fortunate. This is what the Goddess would want best. You say, why hasn't it happened? Because people still follow the strong, which is the Church and State. Humanitarianism is the death of religion and politics as a force. That's why! - <IlluminatedCelestial Cc: " msbauju " <msbauju Tuesday, November 06, 2007 7:41 AM Re: Meenakshi temple gets computerized > What I always found fascinating about Hinduism that it always came across > to me a religion open to societal evolution.
