Namaste,

In my brief break from my studies, I composed a long poem to show my devotion to

Kali ma. I first must thank all of you for accepting a Neo-Hindu in the group

who still has yet to read much literature and find her way through Sanskrit

jargon (that is me!). Secondly, I dedicate this to you, my fellow brothers and

sisters, and then to every culture out there that has faced misunderstanding

from outside cultures. All have been my inspiration. Furthermore, I thank

Saraswati for gifting me with her pen, and I thank Kali ma for the endurance she

graced me to endure all life has to offer thus far. Finally, I thank God/dess

for everything.

Jai Ma!

Sincerely,

Christina

Compassionate Mother of Liberation, A Prayer of a Kali Bhaktini

In a world of hate and strife,

You have been the one to bring me relief,

You who bore eternal rest, and made life,

And you who will bring my soul's merciful release.

Um Klim Kalikaye Namaha...

" Om and salutations. I attract she who is dark and powerful. "

I turn to you and kneel to you,

When I feel there is nowhere to go,

I ask for your guidance, I honor you,

So that I may not be chained by the ego.

Om Hrim Shreem Klim Adya Kalika Param Eshwari Swaha...

" Om and salutations to She who is the first one, dark within her own reality,

the supreme primordial feminine, who cuts through illusion to the unabridged

truth of existence. "

I turn to you again, and kneel to you again,

For I cannot endure the torture of the asuras alone,

I seek your power, for it is wisdom I wish to gain,

So that my selfishness and attachment to maya can be undone.

" I turn to you, Maha-Kali, goddess of liberation from evil. She who is the

redeemer of the cosmos, motherly savior who will bring peace in time. She who

is Brahman, she who brings moksha. "

I face a world of cruelty and discord,

Who only knows to bring turmoil to the soul,

They only know you as an object of scorn,

Because of the fear and ignorance in their soul.

" I know you as my mother and the ultimate Guru. I cannot imagine a world

without you, as I am lost without you, my motherly incarnation of God. "

The sin of Thugee fueled the prejudice of humanity,

Toward your image of motherly grace,

Their false worship involved great atrocity,

That made those who not know only see you with fear and hate.

" I come to you as a child, who knows no fear and hate toward you. Who, like any

child, seeks the guidance and embrace of their mother. "

This world by principle is filled with biting, clawing, undesirable darkness,

And you, even with your color of nothingness, are one of its shining lights,

I now can only see this living world in its vileness,

I seek direction in seeing it in its goodness.

" I struggle from the demons within. Please help me find the light in my soul so

I can find harmony within. "

Christianity seeks guidance through God's incarnation as Jesus Christ,

Islam seeks guidance through their ultimate guru Mohammad,

Shaivams seek guidance through the manifestation of Shiva,

Vaishnavites seek the guidance of Vishnu, the one who manifested as Rama.

" I seek the wisdom of God through you, great mother Kali, she who sprang from

Durga's brow to defeat the demons of the Devi Mahatmyam. "

When I see the Virgin Mary, I think of you,

Just as many in Calcutta think of you,

When I endure a time of strife, I thank you,

Because I am who I am, because of you.

Om Hrim Shreem Klim Adya Kalika Param Eshwari Swaha...

" Om and salutations to She who is the first one, dark within her own reality,

the supreme primordial feminine, who cuts through illusion to the unabridged

truth of existence. "

Maha Devi who knows misunderstanding best, I pray to be compassionate,

So that I, your bhaktini, may spread your blessings, by helping others,

I pray for you to wither my inner duality, to have more selflessness,

As it is by helping others that I find my path to liberation, divine mother.

Um Klim Kalikaye Namaha...

" Om and salutations. I attract she who is dark and powerful. "

The liberation that I find, through you.
