Guest guest
[Moderator's note: Friends, there are other e-groups for discussions of Neopaganism and Wicca. Let's steer the discussion back on topic.] Namaste, After some thought on this subject, I felt that I possibly almost made the topic thread on Eastern beliefs being exploited steer into a direction that was based almost solely on criticizing how Western traditions and authors portrayed Eastern Deities. Part of it was likely a bias on my part of what I know and understand of Kali (and being my ishta devata, it was probably very personal for me and might have added bias to my posts), and another part of it was likely my concerns about it being a form of exploitation. Regardless of this, while there were some things learned from evaluating these criticisms (whether by me or other people who commented), it had a lot of potential of hurt feelings and more aggressive argumentation if I kept feeding this aspect of the topic. Also in the end, it would have been counter-productive to learning and understanding - not to mention possible harmony - if there were only criticisms (especially mine) and lack of suggestions and discussion. Since I really loathe the concept of making firm an " us vs. them " concept and hate feeling like I am only encouraging prejudice and lack of unity, [....] Jai Ma!
