Guest guest
It is a teasing reference to the Godess, who is said to be jealous of Ganga, because Ganga adorns head of Shiva, when SHE could " get only " the left half of Shiva!! Being a favorite son, Adi Shankara took poetic liberty in imbibing humor into several verses, which also reflect his imagination. In one of the previous stanzas, he refers to the 3rd eye being red because the two eyes which span the whole face and the eyes themselves resembling bees, drink the nectar from the flowers adorning HER ears. Seeing that the 3rd eye is jealous because it cannot drink nectar and is red with jealousy. :-) , " prainbow61 " <paulie- rainbow wrote: > > Why spiteful towards Ganga? > > namaste, > > pr > > , " NMadasamy " <nmadasamy@> wrote: > > > > Siva srngArArdrA tad-itara-jane kutsana-parA > > sarosa GangAyAm Girisa-carite'vismayavati; > > har'Ahibhyo bhitA sarasi-ruha-saubhAgya-janani > > sakhIsu smerA te mayi janani drstih sakuranA > > > > > > > > O Mother!
