Guest guest
Namaste Group: Shivaratri is coming up very soon, and I was wondering where a person can find bel or vilva leaves in the US. I have looked everywhere, but I have been unable to find them. Shanti Om! Shankari Never miss a thing. Make your homepage.

Guest guest
If you'd like to plan ahead for future celebrations, you can buy a tree seedling or packet of seeds from this nursery in Florida: http://www.nativehabitat.com/plants.htm (I am mostly kidding; I have no idea if a Bel tree would make an acceptable houseplant. It certainly would need strong light -- a least a southern-facing large window.) , " ganpra " <ganpra wrote: > > http://www.zipcodezoo.com/Animals/A/Aegle_marmelos.asp > > > , Shankari Kali > <shankari_kali@> wrote: > > > >> > Shivaratri is coming up very soon, and I was wondering where a person > can find bel or vilva leaves in the US. Guest guest
Bel can be grown in the house...meaning it can be grown within the perimeter of the garden - not sure about inside the home itself. Pipal (or Pipul, Ficus religiosa) tree is a no-no. Can be grown anywhere outside the garden. , " msbauju " <msbauju wrote: > > If you'd like to plan ahead for future celebrations, you > can buy a tree seedling or packet of seeds from this nursery in > Florida: http://www.nativehabitat.com/plants.htm > > (I am mostly kidding; I have no idea if a Bel > tree would make an acceptable houseplant. > It certainly would need strong light -- a > least a southern-facing large window.) >
Guest guest
Is a pipal a 'no-no' due to invasive roots, or for metaphysical reasons? , " ganpra " <ganpra wrote: > > Bel can be grown in the house...meaning it can be grown within the > perimeter of the garden - not sure about inside the home itself. > > Pipal (or Pipul, Ficus religiosa) tree is a no-no. Guest guest
The second is more important than the first - even if it is a bonsai or a potted plant ;-) , " msbauju " <msbauju wrote: > > Is a pipal a 'no-no' due to invasive roots, > or for metaphysical reasons? > > , " ganpra " <ganpra@> wrote: > > > > Bel can be grown in the house...meaning it can be grown within the > > perimeter of the garden - not sure about inside the home itself. > > > > Pipal (or Pipul, Ficus religiosa) tree is a no-no. Guest guest
Dear all, You can order the leaves, in clusters of 3 leaves, for .60 a cluster from Kalani Tropicals. They are located in Kauai. There is a seperate charge for FED shipping, which is standard overnight to California, and a minimum order of $25 worth of clusters. I ordered from them for the last Maha Shivaratri gathering I hosted at our home temple and am doing the same for this year. Their info is: Kalani Tropicals Flowers from the Heart of Kauai www.ktropicals.com 6242 Olohena Road Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii 96746 flowers toll free 888-473-6326 Tell Vasuki that Surya referred you. As far as obtaining a sapling, it can not be shipped to every state. California is one state where it is not legal to ship into. There are many plants like this, as some prolifically spread when planted in the wild, and this is considered non-desireable for the local established agriculture. JAI AMMA!
