For, Thy long side- glance, directed across which [ridges] and reaching the vicinity of Thine ear, creates the impression of the mountaing of an arrow [on the bow-string]. The negative interrogative of the first half of the stanza presupposes an affirmative reply. In the second half of the oblique glance of the Devi is portrayed as the mounting of an arrow on the bow-string, the eyes being compared to an arrow.
