Dear Shakti Sadhana group:

I received this from a friend of Devipuram the other day and thought I

would share it with you all.

It is about an interesting new recording that places the work of the

great Carnatic classical composer (and Sri Vidya upasak

extraordinaire) Muthuswami Dikshitar (1776-1835), into lovely and

unexpected musical settings.

For a sample song and further information, read on. My friend wrote:

" I wanted to share with you this beautiful music link/info. The song

is a beautiful composition of the legendary composer Muthusvami

Dikshitar. Known for his tantric/Shakta compositions Dikhshitar's

Navavarana compositions are legendry. However, this album brings to

light Dikshitar's " global " compositions where he has composed Sanskrit

lyrics set to Celtic tones. Listen to the song link below and you will

get the idea.

Kanniks, the composer of this album, is a good friend and also

somebody Guruji is interested in establishing links with for future

Devipuram projects. His 12 year old daughter Vidita is the lead/main

singer in this album. The song Kamlamba is, to me, absolutely beautiful!

I thought of sharing this with you with the thought that in case you

think it worthwhile, you can share this with your Shakti Sadhana

Mailing list. "

Well I listened, and I think it's worthwhile sharing. Hope you enjoy

as well.

I finally settled down to finally listen to this. Needless to say, I was

impressed.

I think the 12 year old who sang the sample song has potential to become a

talented music artist for future songs.

Jai Ma!

Sincerely,

Christina
