Guest guest
Namaste! Allow me to introduce myself: I am a Western devotee who has made her way to this . I am a devotee of Divine Mother, especially in Her form of Kali, along with the Lord Shiva as the Divine Couple of the Universe and Their family. I am also respectful of all Gods and Goddesses. I am a beginner and I will always be so in this life, I am sure. It is wonderful that with the internet and with so many followers of the Sanatana Dharma having come to the US I can at last hear the discussions and speak with many of those who have been in this path longer than I. It is very exciting to me. When I first became aware of Hinduism, there were very few teachers and only a few handfuls of western devotees. It thrills me that many more of my background have taken this path to Deity and that Sanatana Dharma is understood as the truly universal spiritual and religious path that embraces all others. As I say, I am a beginner who has still much to learn. I am grateful for threads like this that give the worshipper who does not have the cultural background to take for granted a way to learn simple forms of worship. In my humble opinion, the important thing is to begin a spiritual path, even if there are many imperfections in the technical details. I have had to find my own way for many years, with the initial push from my Guru, for whom I have profound respect. If I present myself before the Deities and offer heartfelt respect and offerings and read the scriptures then my faults will be taken care of and I will learn and grow to a more perfect expression and I will become a true follower of the Sanatana Dharma. That is my feeling. My current steps forward on the path began when I purchased a statue of Ma Bhavatarini. I feel such a call to worship and take care of Her, which I have begun to do from my heart with what little knowledge I have. As my Guru taught all relgions and Deities have truth within them. So I offer them my respect and devotion as expressions of Brahman. But Kali Ma is in my heart. Along with Her Beloved Consort. So I will continue to listen and learn and perhaps I will have something to offer the group from my viewpoint. As far as simple pujas are concerned, it is difficult to find time in the morning to do much in the way of worship. If you work and have family there are many obligations. I try to make it as simple as possible while including everything necessary. For offering food, if I cannot take the time to lay the food before the Deities, I at least say some mantras over my meal and think of offering it to Shiva/Shakti, imagining it in my mind. Then later in the evening I can do something nicer and sing a few bhajans. This at least keeps my mind on God throughout the day. Thank you for listening to me. Jai Kali Ma! Om Namah Shivaya! Guest guest
Greetingst Kumari....... Like all the other, before we start aiming for the Marathon, we should first learn how to crawl... then walk properly.... then begin to run..... short distance first..and try for the long distance..... learn how to do breathing control..... learn how to conserve energy and use at the right time at the right place ... etc... and all of that sort of thing... only then once you are prepared ... mentally and physically.. the Marathon is there for you to strive for. But Not everybody will make to the finishing line during the Marathon. The most important is even if you are the last in the race...... you must complete it. That is what true sportsmen/womenship is all about. Its all about endurance and passion. On behalf of the Moderators and the members of this group, I Welcome you. You see in here, there's lies sadhak/sadhika from the various path.... at different level of spiritual ladder......nobdoy is higher or superior than the other... DEVI is the main factor that cement our love and devotion to each other. , " mjfisher2005 " <mjfisher2005 wrote: > > Namaste! > > Allow me to introduce myself: I am a Western devotee who has made > her way to this .
