What is the appropriate use of a deity's gayatri mantra? Can it be

used for japa or is there a specific occasion/use (eg puja)?

For Matangi, btw, I have:

Om Matangyai chakra vidmahe

Ucchistachandalini dhimahi

Tanno Devi prachodayat

Does that seem right? I've also taken note of some warnings not to

use mantras that use phat or svaha without guru say-so (which I don't

have and probably won't for the forseeable future). What does the

group think?

Cheers,

Pip

dear pip,

reg the use of swaha , after the age of 28 or 29 , instead

of namaha u r supposed to use swaha in a mantra.

i dunno abt the use of phut though.

sathya sai baba said that one is not supposed to

mispronounce dram & other such bija words which occur in

mantras . he said it will harm a person if mispronounced.

he also said the bija in the mantra gives results. without

the bija, the mantra does not yield results.hope this helps,

in love & light ,

sarada
