Guest guest
Interesting difference! Indeed this reminds me of my frequent experience in temple, when there is lovingly provided a roman character version of the chant.. but when the more knowledgeable participants chant beside me I can clearly hear syllables that I do not see on the page. It is both rare, and important (to me anyway) to have a consistent transliteration. For those of us unfamiliar with the original sanscrit text or unable to accurately read such an item, there is no other way to accurately produce the words. Speaking of which... is there an English translation available for this? It looks quite interesting. blessings, pr , sankara menon <kochu1tz wrote: > > ayyyyyyyooooooooo why do you KILL mantras? > > ghantaa shoola halani shankham musalam, carkam dhanussayakam > hastabje dhansatvilsati taamshu tulyaprabhaam > gaurIdehasamudhbhavaam trijagataamaadhaara bhootaam > purvamatra saraswatImanubhaje Shumbhaadi daityaardinIM " > > > --- On Mon, 7/21/08, jagdish.thaker <jagdish.thaker wrote: > > jagdish.thaker <jagdish.thaker > Sarswati Dhyanam > > Monday, July 21, 2008, 4:09 PM *Sarswati Dhyanam* > > " Ghanta Shul Halani Shankh Musale, Charkam Dhanu Sayakam > Hastabje Dhanst vilsati , Tansu Tulya Prabham > Gauri Deh Samudhbhaddha Trijagata Madhar bhuta Maha > Purva Matra SARSWATI Manubhaje Shumbhadi Daityardinim " > > DURGA SAPTSATI [CHANDI PATH] > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I am sorry there were typhos in what I wrote. ghaNThaa shUlahalaani sha~NkhaM musalaM carkaM dhanussaayakaM hastaabje ghanasatvilsantIM taaMshu tulyaprabhaam gaurIdehasamudbhavaaM trijagataamaadhaarabhUtaaM purvamatra saraswatImanubhaje shumbhaadi daityaardinIM However here it is properly written in Itrans format. I translator can be googled and downloaded free. It uses ITRANS format thats uniform. The translation roughly runs as follows:- Wielding in her lotus-hands the bell, trident, ploughshare, conch, pestle, discus, bow, and arrow, her lustre is like that of a moon shining in the autumn sky. She is born from the body of Gowri and is the sustaining base of the three worlds. The Maha Saraswati I worship here is she who who destroyed Sumbha and other asuras. --- On Sun, 7/27/08, prainbow61 <paulie-rainbow wrote: prainbow61 <paulie-rainbow Re: Sarswati Dhyanam Sunday, July 27, 2008, 1:11 PM Interesting difference!
