Guest guest
Dear Vivek Khurana; Om shantih! Ekadasi is an astrological event which for me, at least, is very complex--I just cannot calculate it at all. However, there are lots of handy and willing calendars of Ekadasi, which i am linking you to. The meaning of Ekadasi goes back into the limitless past of Hinduism, and is a tradition. In essence, some sages vast ages ago noticed that eleven lunar days after the New and Full Moon , spirit was very active, and so it became honored. Yes, this is a deep idea, and so i am sending you a link with further links embedded in it so you can see for yourself. Many people honor Ekadasi in India, it is very popular, but it is so very, very old that a few traditions about it have developed in different families and different systems of Hinduism such as Shakta, Advaita or Vaishnava. the link mentions some variations. So, what should you do? I suggest that you pray and ask for help on that day if it is not a tradition in your family or in your religion. As for my humble self, in my family yoga is very old. My miother had a guru in the 1940s when it was not popular as it is now, and when I was about 20, I joined a yoga group, and learned Sanskrit and in the end went to India for a few years as a pilgrim. Om shanti, I will pray on Monday Ekadasi for peace with all of you! Robb
