Guest guest
Namaste, Well, I did not arrive home in time, but mindful of the need to not stress over this, I simply took a moment at 6:44 when I *was* finally home to light my ghee lamp and some incense and to chant for a moment to Durgaji. I feel as though it is a start. However, I do have one problem. I left the lamp lit while I went about my evening, but every time I went to check on it, it had drowned itself. This is a common problem for me, my wick always tips over and drowns itself. How does one overcome this technicality? Blessings and peace, pr

Guest guest
Wet the tip with ghee. Just make sure it sticks out a bit. Do not fill the lamp with ghee. If ghee is congealed then it is easy to overload the lamp. If making the wick from cotton does not stay lit, use cotton string. , " prainbow61 " <paulie- rainbow wrote: > > Namaste, > > Well, I did not arrive home in time, but mindful of the need to not > stress over this, I simply took a moment at 6:44 when I *was* finally > home to light my ghee lamp and some incense and to chant for a moment > to Durgaji. > > I feel as though it is a start. > > However, I do have one problem. Guest guest
shukriya, I probably overfill the lamp, it is just a little silverplated bowl on a pedestal that I got on my trip to India. The ghee I have is solid, not made myself, but a good brand. I have made it myself in the past but my results are inconsistent. I do use cotton wicks that I purchase in little packages. I know I could make these myself, too, but I find that a little intimidating. I think I will stick with store bought until I am consistently successful in keeping them lit. I have taken to making my own sindoor with turmeric, saffron and sandalwood powder which isn't as pretty and red as store bought but I feel better about it not having lead. Also I feel it is more spiritually connected when you make things yourself. Anyway, thank you for your advice I will try to fill the lamp a little less full and see how that goes. Guest guest
Namaste, I have come home late from work again. But again, I remember to pray without stress. Today the lamp lights perfectly and stays lit. Although it is close to 7pm which is the time to stop even as I am just getting started, still I sit down comfortably in front of Durga ma and I chant Her name 108 times. I ask that She give me Her healing blessing so that I may more effectively pray for others. Again, I feel more restored than I have in a long time. I am beginning to feel that maybe I can be an instrument of Her peace in the world, as long as I can carry Her peace within. I always feel the love of my Mother when I sit at Her feet. blessings, and peace, pr , " prainbow61 " <paulie-rainbow wrote: > > shukriya, > > I probably overfill the lamp, it is just a little silverplated bowl > on a pedestal that I got on my trip to India. Guest guest
Namaste, Today was even better. In my chanting I felt connected to the others out there who I know were praying at the same time. With this being the 3rd day it was easier to feel more connected more quickly. I could see the smile on Durga's face and I could feel the joy that our Mother feels when we sit down with Her. I remember that I though all of us trying to do this at the same time was crazy. But when I sat there tonight, the thougth that others were also sitting and praying, chanting connecting at the same time around the world made me feel very connected. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. pr , " prainbow61 " <paulie-rainbow wrote: > > Namaste, > > I have come home late from work again. But again, I remember to pray > without stress.
