Guest guest
I am new to Hinduism and desire adhering to Shaktism. Can anyone point me to some good, effective mantras to start my journey?
Guest guest
Namaste Stan There are different paths within Shaktism and Shakta Tantra, primarily that of Lalitha (Sri Vidya) and that of Kali (Kali Kula). There are different mantras that form the core of each of these paths. The best mantra to start with on any path of Hinduism is OM. There is a universe full of meaning to this mantra, and repetition will help unlock those mysteries. It is arguably the gateway to all other mantras, and many (if not most) mantras begin with a salutation to this seed of all mantras. Some will tell you that the correct pronunciation is AUM, some will go with how it is written in devanagari, which is UM (probably how it was originally pronounced, but fairly early on it moved into OM, and AUM is by comparison a relatively recent development, playing on the inherent diphthong in OM). Still others will tell you the correct way is OM. It all depends on your lineage. Repeat OM first with sincere devotion to Ganesha to remove obstacles to your worship and experience of Divine Mother, and then with sincere devotion to the Mother for several minutes or as long as you like. Do this daily; there is no harm in repeating this mantra. Eventually She will lead you to the right teachers that will help you learn more in a safe and guided way. shanti saa'ham -sundari On Sun, Aug 31, 2008 at 3:28 AM, stan <doberman71969 wrote: > I am new to Hinduism and desire adhering to Shaktism. I follow Amma (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi), and she recommends that you start worshipping the Goddess through " OM MA " . And for simple mantras, as others have pointed out, it's good to pray to Ganesha at first: a good root mantra for him is " Om gam ganapati namaha, om " . (Where the " gam " is the root syllable for Ganesha himself.) And as for other deities, you'd have to decide which particular Goddess you want to pray to. For prosperity and family life and general well-being, I recommend Ma Lakshmi. Her root mantra would be " Om shring mahalakshmi namaha, om. " (Shring being the root (bija) mantra syllable for Lakshmi.) Jai Ma, Snowgrouse(:>)
